PDF Editor FAQ

I would like to sell my motorcycle. I'm a little skeptical about letting people test ride it. What can I do to ensure they don't take off and never come back?

Cash in hand first.I had a friend who was selling his dirt bike on Craigslist. Two guys showed up in a Honda Accord, flashed the cash and asked if they could ride it down the street first, you know, to make sure it ran all right. My friend said he didn’t have a pink slip and asked if a bill of sale would do. They said they were moving to Utah after this and it didn’t matter, they would have it titled when they got there. One of the two asked if there was a liquor store nearby. He offered to share with us after the sale. We told him there was one around the corner so he hopped into the Accord and left his buddy behind with us to test ride the bike.He fired up the bike and tore off down the street. He got to about a block away and we heard the motor quit. My buddy bet me five bucks that he forgot to turn on the fuel petcock. We waited a couple more minutes before we all jumped in the back of his pickup to go help the guy out. When we got down the block and around the corner, we saw the two guys loading my buddy’s bike into the back of a truck. We all jumped out and ran up to the two guys.My buddy gets in the test rider’s face and accuses him of the obvious. He vehemently denies that they were in the middle of stealing his bike and waved the cash he had flashed us earlier. My buddy snatched the cash from his hand, counts it and tells the two to take off before he changes his mind and keeps the bike, too.The moral to the story is trust isn’t free. I’ve sold enough stuff to know that everyone knows to pony up the cash first. If they are truly serious buyers, they will show up with all the cash they need to purchase your bike. It’s the price you have to pay for trust. I’ve done the same in return as a buyer and have never had anyone threaten to keep the cash after I changed my mind.

I saw a dirt bike in someone else’s yard but it hasn't been used in years or months. I don't see anyone using it. Is it possible if I could keep it?

I would go & ask the Owner that I have noticed the Dirt Bike & if it still works. Tell the owner that you are interested in the Dirt Bike & if you have Mechanical background, you are interested in Buying the Dirt Bike. Make Sure that you get a Bill of Sale & Ownership.

How do I register a dirt bike in California without a title?

You use a bill of sale as proof that you own or were sold the motorcycle, and then apply for a replacement title with the DMV. A VIN inspection may be required, to make sure there are no lienholders or that the bike is not stolen.
