It’s jury selection for a medical malpractice case. It’s tedious, and the judge appears to be asleep. Lawyers have questioned a dozen potential jurors already. “Do you know anyone on the witness list?” “Have you ever been harmed by a medical practitioner?” “Has anyone you know been harmed by a medical practitioner?”…he’s reading the questions off a clipboard and making notes from time to time.They get to one juror and before questions even begin he’s giving lawyerman the eye, like “Tread carefully, sir.” Lawyer doesn’t seem to notice.“Do you know anyone on the witness list?”“Yes.” Eye.“Who do you know?”“The doctors listed as expert witnesses for the prosecution.” Eye.“All the doctors listed as expert witnesses?”“Yes.” Eye“How do you know them?”Juror sighs. “Through my…profession.”He’s clearly trying not to provide extra info, but lawyer plows on. I’m already smirking. I don’t know what’s coming, but I sense a train wreck. The lawyer looks at the juror expectantly. The juror finally says, “I’m an investigator.”“Of what?”“Insurance fraud.” Oh snap.“CHAMBERS NOW,” says the judge. Oh hell, I guess he wasn’t asleep after all.They ended up dismissing the whole jury pool—we’d been hopelessly tainted. The judge was pissed. I just thought it was hilarious.

A coworker was at a hearing where there was patent litigation over some highly mathematical image processing algorithms.Lawyer: “So how did you derive this sequence of numbers”Engineer: “It was based on the Fibonacci sequence.”Lawyer (angrily): “So who is Fibonacci? Does he work on your team?”Lawyer was very indignant that this very important coworker was not on the witness list.Judge had to call a recess so he could recover from laughing.Apparently he knew that Fibonacci was a famous mathematician who had died 800 years ago, but the lawyer did not.

If it were, then Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, Steve Bannon, Reince Priebus, Gary D. Cohn and Stephen Miller, all members or advisors to the Trump administration, would be on the phone with their bail bondsmen after their documented use of private email servers for official White House business.Of course, the absence of evidence of a crime hasn’t stopped outgoing GOP House Members, led by Rep. Mark Meadows, for one last fling at taxpayer expense trying to find something to blame Clinton for while distracting attention from Mr. Trump’s outrageous activities.Since the GOP failed to find any credible evidence of a crime in over a dozen earlier taxpayer-funded “hearings” (despite loaded witness lists), they’ve opened up their present escapade to not only Clinton’s email server, but also Benghazi, George Soros, Sidney Blumenthal, Huma Abedin, Cheryl Mills, James B. Comey, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page, IRS targeting the tea party, Uranium One and a QAnon conspiracy. Surprisingly, an inquiry into Clinton's failure to floss after brushing was overlooked.Hopefully for the country, whomever Trump appoints as AG will have sufficient integrity and independence not to follow his boss’ childish vendetta against Clinton and instead pay attention to the mounting evidence of corruption within the Trump administration itself.
