If your mom signed the forms giving temporary guardianship of you to the program, then basically yes. As long as there were two staff in the room, searching for contraband is an ugly necessity of impatient (or wilderness) treatment. I hate to tell you this, but it’s the truth and once you make a certain number of bad choices and get sent to treatment, you have basically forfeited your right to be trusted as far as your mom was concerned-which is why they sent you to treatment and you got searched. Programs cannot run in any state without being subject to a lot of regulations both from the state and from the companies that ensure these programs.I am more curious about why you are wondering about this now. Is there closure you need with your mother? If you’re still angry about whatever happened, you need to focus on why you ended up there—take ownership for your part and make your mom take ownership for hers. These programs are harsh but focusing your anger on them isn’t going to get you anywhere.

I can see two cases for that.Your parents have a reason that they won’t/can’t call the cops. Like if your house has drugs or some sort of signs of illegal activities.You convince or “Convince” your parents to let you go. If they generally are already not happy, they may be willing to just let you go.Have a story that doesn’t make them look bad and someone who they can sign over temporary guardianship. If your already prepared for launch. Then you can try to leverage the fact that you’ve already decided to burn the bridges.You just need to avoid things that would land you in jail. How many headaches can you create if your willing to go for broke? What could you say that makes them look bad or suspicious, how badly could you mess up their reputation?

In Oregon, the rule is to reunify the children with one or both of the parents. Safety plans are put into place and the children are placed in temporary care. Allowing time for the parent(s) to complete DHS recommendations. If there is no movement from the parent(s) on DHS recommendations, it takes about six months for DHS to then consider terminating parental rights (TPR). About 6 more months more and the parent(s) have not worked on their recommendations, then its time to start looking to adopt the children out. Let the state help, they will have alot of resources to help the young person get on his/her feet. If you elect guardianship for younger kiddos, the state will search for an adoptive family. Younger kids need a forever home.You of course will contact DHS the moment you hear your grandkids are in custody. You will be fast tracked for approval with background checks, blah blah. Kiddos arrive at your home, DHS sets up financial assistance, kids are placed on State Medicaid, they will have attorneys and most likely a CASA reps. Depending on ages, there are other services available for the kiddos especially therapy. Work with DHS, they will be your best friend.Work through the process and hopefully the parent(s) can pull it together but if not, be there as a resourced for your grandkids. Good luck!
