PDF Editor FAQ

What are some examples of jobs where you can outsource most, or all, of the work to virtual assistants?

The Essence of virtual assistant service is that you save time and money so that you can focus more on growing and prospecting rather than wasting time in doing repetitive clerical jobs.Virtual Assistants can do all sorts of clerical, administration, marketing , management, planning , personal assistance , writing , editing, Bookkeeping , Design and Development Tasks depending upon his or her skillset. So almost all the jobs which include tasks and responsibilities which does not require physical pressence could be 100% outsourced and those tasks which requires physical pressence could be partially outsourced. At IAS (IAServices | Welcome)we provide virtual assistance service to people from all sort of industries. What we have learned is Even if two people are from same industry , same country and at same designations / Stage of business , they still do not require same services. So the needs and requirements varies on individual basis in this business. Therefore (Assuming you are seeking a carrier in Virtual Assistance) target industries only if you know how things work there and what are the unique and specific requirements for that industry. For example we provide Virtual Assistance Service to Real Estate Agents and target real estate industry because we know the requirements of real estate agents, realtors , brokers , appraisors and we know what they do and what they got to do, what their goals are, what they are trying to achieve. We help them in doing Broker Price Opinions , REO, Appraisal Form Filling , Lead Generation but the point is you need to have the relevant knowledge and skillset for targeting an industry. So if you don't know how things work at an industry or even at a particular designation/job . Instead of targeting industries, you should initially focus on prospecting your skill sets, what makes you unique , how your service is different . When you meet and work with people of different industries and know their requirements you will soon be ready to target any specific industry.Hope this answers the question :)

What is your favorite way to use the D&D 9th level spell True Polymorph?

True Polymorph?I have the story for you. True Polymorph is not a bad spell to choose. I like Time Stop better, but let me tell you what our player character wizard has been doing with the True Polymorph spell.Mattock ‘Thee Unkind’ — 18th level Orcish Wizard. You don’t see many Orc Wizards these days with e5. We do have a great DM. He does favor Orcs and, just about any other race you can come up with (Zombies characters, 1/2 Angels w/wings, Plushkin Dolls - we even have a Robot Player Character). When Mattock accomplished access to 9th level spells, he started with Shapechange. He would Shapechange into a white dragon and bathe the enemy with a fat cone of cold dragon breath. And he dealt good melee damage, but not as much as our fighter. We went searching for the fabled silver dragon so he could change into that; silver is even stronger than the white — but no luck.Even with proficiency on constitution saving throws (transmuter), the DM could still knock him out of form when he wanted: 36 damage per blow leaves Mattock with a DC save at around 10. But you were lucky if you only took 36 damage. Our DM deals brutal combat tactics. Next, Mattock went to True Polymorph.Bolas-Rass (Orcish Gemcutter): Here is where it gets interesting. A little backstory is in order. Our DM installed an Orcish Gemcutter early on in the campaign: Bolas-Rass (NPC). He would cut our gems and jewels in attempt to increase their value. There is a basic 20% chance they would bust/break — ruined! There is a 30% chance nothing happens. But there is about a 50% chance the gem/jewel increased 2 or 3 fold! That's right. When we collected gems and fine jewels from chests, treasures and hoards — we give ‘em to Bolas. It was basically gambling, but fun. Mattock took Appraisal skill, grandfathered over from earlier editions. He not only became good friends with Bolass, he became a collector, curator and expert in fine gems and jewelry. Inbetween adventures he would produce Ioun stones, and sell them.Demonic Cesspools & Catacombs: We have the creative DM. Demonic cesspools exist on the prime material plane. They are a hive for demons and like ilk. If they get a chance to grow, championed by a greater demon or demonic NPC Cleric or Wizard, they can eventually usher up Lord Fraz-Urb’luu into the world. I know, right? So we are deep in the demonic catacombs now. It was disgusting: heaps of rotting flesh and pools of smoking miasma. Make a Con. save or vomit —cool right? Twin Nalfeshnee Demons (Greater Demons), have been just molesting us from several levels prior: stealing our magic items and killing our pets. They kidnapped our town leader who was also our beloved NPC (lady bard); we could do nothing. We were basically bully bait for greater demons. But now we have reached 14th — 18th level. We have set out to track down the bullies. Karma is a thing and payback is a bitch. When we made it into the final chamber, our fighter heads in first, wounded; I knew that was a mistake but no one listens to me. But he did have a henchmen. When combat will be heavy, our beloved DM allows each of us a pet. I was playing my Cleric. It was determined that I would stay behind incase something terrible happened, and it usually does. So I had my Clay Golem, yay! I was carefully hiding behind him and started casting Forbiddance. The entire structure lit up with radiant damage: 5–50 per round! Some demons found me and I’m there in a shallow crevice, casting, trying to keep my concentration, hiding behind my golem and dodging while being attacked.Forbiddance - 5th Edition SRDBack to the final chamber: one of the boss Nalfeshnee Demons is hopped up on a haste potion and literally eviscerates our fighter on round one. The DM rolls at least one critical — 130 damage, and the proud tank goes down. Could it get worse? Our DM is not fond of death saving throws, so the lesser demons start eating the fighter’s body at this point. Our Rogue missed her save vs. demon fear and is hiding behind rocks; she can’t attack. Mattock is standing there, centre stage with his Simulacrum. I’m laughing when I write this because, that’s so OP. But nothing is really OP for our DM.Mattock was up and he casts the True Polymorph: “I will change the boss demon into a very fine, intricate diamond, the size of a plum!” Would that work? Our player wizard argued: “I have extensive knowledge with gemstones and fine jewels.” He actually knew the hardness of diamonds, he knew the composition — the DM ruled yes! Fine! Mattock rolls a D100 to determine diamond value (that and an appraisal check) — 95 (17 I think)! The two agreed on a gp. value. I don’t know; it was high. Now, we all know from Polymorph spell, you just have to prey on prey that has low wisdom saves. Here is the thing. The Nalfeshnee have Wis. save +6, not bad. Add on magic resistance (advantage on saves). But Mattock wasn’t phased. He politely reminds our DM, his spell DC save is 21! That’s right! The DM gave out a Robe of the Arch-Mage, the black one (personally, I think this may have been his mistake). With all his stuff and the Ioun Stone, Mattock was at spell DC:21. That still leaves the Demon needing a 15 — the DM rolls two D20’s — fails! One of the Demon bosses turns into a glittering diamond right in the midst of an arsenal of other lesser demons. The catacomb walls are breathing, pulsating. The demons all lose their morale. The other boss teleports out. Mattock grabs the diamond, that went sliding into a miasma pool — Dex check: he gets it and teleports all of us out!Back Home: We reappear at Stone Keep: our home, safe. Mattock continues with the concentration for 1 hour and the Diamond becomes permanent! Thank you True Polymorph! It’s our first demon diamond! Well, this wasn’t the first time our Wizard did this. Last adventure he turned a fire giant into a ruby.High Profile Gambling: Can it get better? Over the last few adventures, Bolas—Rass, NPC, advanced to an Orcish ‘Arcane’ Gem Cutter. Now he could cut a gem and increase it 2 fold, 3 fold or even 4 fold! But his fee also went up. Lol to that. We took a vote to risk losing the diamond in the cutting process — all in favor! Bolas was up to bat. He tripled the value of the diamond. And here is where we get a bonus from our loving DM; he enjoyed our spirit and efforts and delivers a game-changer: he rules, because the diamond held a greater demon, ‘it shone with an eerie glittering light’ — value doubles again!Long story short, we came out with a diamond worth 900,000 gold. We discretely sold it to a wealthy baron landowner, one city over.Wizard for the win! Turn your foe into a jewel and sell it — win/win! True Polymorph is not a bad spell to choose.True Polymorph - 5th Edition SRDMattock ‘Thee Unkind’ AKA Mattock, ‘I’ll make a jewel out of you’, Thee Unkind!Nalfeshnee 5e " Dungeons & Dragons Stat Block: the Bullies. Can you handle this?

How does working abroad affect career development for an Indian software engineer?

For the sake of simplicity, lets assume abroad is USA and Indian Software Engineer is a “Software Developer” from one of the Big IT Service companies such as TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro,.. etc.Career development is based on the Skills; Skills happen when you’re tested with sufficient exposure/oppurtunity. Substantially disproportionate number of Indian Software engineers are working for Overseas customers. Typically, here is how it works,As a Software developer from India, you will only see the red pipes in the above picture(well articulated requirements(?), specs etc from an on-site developer). It is impossible to see the requirements in raw form for an offshore developer. Not only that, an on-site person will have better view of how her/his own company works(business terms/pricing/hiring/firing ..anything to get the work done) as well as customer’s business. Why does this better view important?. In no particular order..,An overseas person who moved from India, now suddenly get to asses her/his own quality of work thus far(this is never possible at the receiving end of red pipe). This is the best self-appraisal an India based software developer can ever ask for.Now your delivery ownership extends to the whole team which is most of the India based software engineers. You will see distinct & different quality of work from your developers(co-workers thus far). You must be better than most of them(if not all of them) to earn their respect and actually deliver the software work to the customer. I.e. You will be forced to scale up your skills; and this happens all of a sudden, to a point that all of your co-workers in India now think that you’re a totally transformed person. Not only your skills goes up, your income too.Remember, possibly you have now taken your first (international) flight ever. Your family back in India, will slowly move from low income to middle income level. It does help your morale and you will try to perform even better; and this cycle continues..Your English improves and you’re able to watch Hollywood movies without subtitles.Dumb software engineer in a Customer’s location will be exposed more easily compared to an offshore software engineer. Thus dumb engineer per capita in Offshore will be high. I.e. the potential of an offshore engineer is untapped either to expose or to improve her/him.You’re now branded as middle management corporate shark by your own co-workers, while you’re just a slightly more informed & exposed software engineer in the project. You will also understand the interests and motives tied to the outcome of your software work. This means now you know, what drives your colleagues better. It will make you more thorough & competitive(not a bad thing). You will be the first person to try new tools & software in your project and then pass it to your India based developers. You will hear the same complaints from your offshore folks that you used to make while you were in India. This gives few minutes of laugh and you will begin to narrate your autobiography to them. You will wonder why it is so hard for the offshore folks to read the requirement/spec documents. You will be overwhelmed by walking through the documents over & over. You will realize that it is impossible to convince your offshore folks, that you have really tried to get them a fair appraisal. Most of them think, fairness means, good rating & Promotion; You can do nothing about it.You will grow thick skin by hearing all the feedback about overtime work happening in India while you yourself are burning through every weekend & midnight. Probably you will become immune to all sorts of work stress complaints. You will slowly realize that doing a good software actually involves doing many non-software things such as communication, setting priorities, writing & reading documents etc.You will realize that financial/business merit of the software will always outweigh the technical merit of the software. This means, your passion/technical itch/curiosity of new tools & Softwares will find expression “only” if it is financially viable. You will see software as a “Business operation manual or some sort of Constitution” rather than compiler interpreted bytes(instructions) for an electronic machine. You will also understand, some of the softwares were written before your birth and there are no specs/requirements for them. Therefore re-factoring of software is better than re-writing. You simply cannot re-write because you do not know the requirements. So re-factoring is your best bet. But your offshore colleagues and managers will curse you for not having requirements, so that they can make fresh clean software. Be prepared to be a moron in their eyes. You will understand that requirements are not final and it is impossible for your customer to give you thorough requirements. You will really appreciate the complexity of the business (just like software) and be compassionate to your customer. This means you will try to accommodate atleast one un-accounted/un-documented/often in-visible requirement change, which makes your Offshore developers furious; After all you’re still a new software team lead with a heart though you’re expected to be a cold & brainy attorney/lawyer.You will envy the Google, Apple & Microsoft software engineers because they’re doing more hardcore software and you’re doing clerical work(mostly). You would want to improve your hardcore software skills but couple of your offshore folks would go on unexpected leave on that very day; Then your survival instincts will take over till their return and eventually you will forget about upskilling. This list goes on just like software versions and you will be enlightened that you do not really know a thing about doing good software; and you will shamelessly write them in Quora just like this.
