I have had good supervisors and bad supervisors.Bad supervisors: Take good notes. Date, time, location, who was present and what was duscussed. Do not use company equipment to do this. I used my personal email on my smart phone.My bad supervisor threatened to fire the next subordinate that went over his head even thought Ryder's CEO had an open door policy. We made suggestions on how to improve our ad hoc procedures and he would reject them every time without reason. He would advise us two or three weeks later that we should do his idea… we asked for his help dealing with difficult customers. Customers that would threaten us. He did nothing. One lady was quitting and at our daily meeting when the bad supervisor was telling subordinates to call him day or night if there is a problem, she pointed out he never answers his phone.The good supervisor took care of us and in turn we took care of him.

For the vast majority of Ph.D. granting institutions, the primary thesis adviser must be a professor in the accredited department which is granting the degree. For example, if you are seeking a Ph.D. in chemical engineering, your primary adviser must be a professor in the department of chemical engineering. At some schools, adjunct professors of the department can serve as your primary adviser - at others, it must be an assistant, associate, or full professor in that department.It’s quite uncommon for a medical doctor to be a professor in a Ph.D. granting department. Not impossible, but I don’t personally know of any. So to answer your question, I would ask whether or not the medical doctor is also professor. If they are not, they cannot serve as your primary thesis adviser.

Hi,In Wipro, if you check your MyData/PSP, you will see two different manager tagging often for the same employee. One is the primary manager (L1), who is also often called as your resource manager/supervisor, etc. He/She will be from your Service Line or Practice who will be responsible for your career-growth, trainings or even promotions. They do not work with you directly but indirectly in the sense like assigning you the new project in different Business Units (BU’s), etc and in return, they charge billing from that account of BU.Second, is your manager or more specifically, the project manager to whom you report to directly within a project.Now, if an employee in Wipro, originally belongs to some Business Units say FS, Manufacturing, etc, then more likely that employee will have same manager tagging in both L1 level (supervisor) and at the project level as project manager/manager. So, all the responsibilities like career-growth, promotion, etc will be taken by the project manager or more specifically by the respective Business Unit only.However, if an employee belongs to some practice say BAS (Business Application Services), Microsoft, etc then for such employee L1 manager will be different and project manager will be different provided that employee is working under some project or is billable. If under free pool, then that employee will have project manager tagging as that of L1 manager/supervisor from Practice only.Hope this clarifies your query :)
