I am an American who has been living in Southeast England for a little over a year, and here are a few things I've noticed over this time (these may be specific to England or even the London area in some cases) :Americans tend to be both far more religious and far more vocal about religion than their English cousins. I remember working for a company in North Carolina that opened all of their big meetings with a Christian prayer, whereas here in the UK as far as I know none of my coworkers are practicing members of any religion (it's worth noting that my coworkers are primarily software engineers who are 35 years old or younger, and these are two groups who are known for being less religious than average).The English drink differently from Americans. Back home I would drink infrequently (once every few months on average), but I would tend to have several drinks every time I went drinking. Here in the UK people tend to drink VERY regularly (multiple times a week) but in more moderate amounts (1-2 pints of beer). If you want to hang out with a coworker after work, you go to the pub… Inviting them to grab dinner is seen as being weird.The English are really fond of following rules, but they are really bad at coming up with rules that make sense. I remember moving here and needing to show a rental agreement to open a bank account, but being unable to get a rental agreement without a bank account (in both cases the law was cited as the reason). Luckily my British wife had an easier time getting a bank account than I did, otherwise I would have been homeless.The English seem slow to form new friendships, but I'm sure to them I seem obnoxiously friendly.Americans tend not to have a passport, while the British seem to constantly travel (probably as a result of better laws guaranteeing holiday/vacation time here). We Americans could learn from the British about how they care for themselves in general, as they tend to be healthier and slightly less stressed than Americans (NHS has a lot to do with how healthy people here are though, it is a national treasure).I hope this little bit of insight helps!

Notice to quit in certain tenancies.A tenancy from year to year may be terminated by a notice to quit given one month or more before the end of the current year of the tenancy; a tenancy from month to month by a like notice of seven days; a tenancy from week to week, of two days.Basically this means that if there’s a year-long lease that you’ve signed with the boyfriend, you have to be given a 30 day written notice by the landlord to vacate…and if the rental “agreement” is shorter than that, there are still a certain number of days you must be given (again written notice).I’m going to take a stab at it and guess you moved in with the boyfriend without getting put on the lease with him, which counts as subletting. Many leases prohibit this without prior authorization from the landlord, so your boyfriend could be at risk to receive a notice from his landlord giving your boyfriend a certain amount of days to “remedy” (demand you leave) the situation or be processed for eviction.Tricky thing in the above instance is that all he can really do is ask you nicely to leave. If you receive mail there, have a key, and have personal items there, your boyfriend can’t just kick you out in the middle of the night and change the locks — you could call the cops to have them escort you in to get your stuff, or file a civil case for the return of your stuff. That is all separate from the landlord’s involvement.Not sure exactly which applies in your case, or if there are other details which weren’t in the question, but personally I’d say that if your boyfriend has demanded you leave and you’re not on the lease, I wouldn’t overstay your welcome. If you’re on the lease, he can’t demand you leave.

As long as you follow the rental agreement, then unlimited miles means just that. I rented a car one time for vacation and the only stipulation was that for the free unlimited miles I had to stay in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee area. In other words I could go any where in those states and get the deal. I took full advantage of this. They rented me a new car that still had the dealer tag on it and about 250 or so miles. When I returned it, it was flashing that it was time for an oil change and the issued tag had arrived at the branch office. SO in about 2 weeks I put 5K miles on the car and never left the assigned area and was never charged an extra penny.
