Will Ohio remain a red state in the 2020 US election?

I'm going to give a purely anecdotal answer. I have lived in a suburb of Columbus, Ohio since 2013. And I am a cyclist; leading up to the 2016 election and so far in 2020, I have ridden my bike along many streets in several of the suburbs. And the unofficial “yard-sign poll” has swung hard away from Trump. In 2016, the signs were pretty evenly split, possibly favoring Trump. In 2020, on the same streets, they are overwhelmingly (maybe 10–1) in favor of Biden, sitting next to “Black Lives Matter” and “Equal” and “Enough” signs.I'm sure that Trump signs still dominate the rural areas. And I'm equally sure that the cities will go Democratic. But the signs point to a shift in the suburbs, and that's where swing states do the best swinging. One more anecdote, since it was the most hopeful thing I have seen so far. While riding last week, I pulled up behind a car stopped at a red light. It had a special Ohio license plate for “Combat Veteran - Bronze Star”. Under it was a small bumper sticker with Trump's name on it —- in a red circle with a red diagonal line across it.Ohio is certainly not a reliable red state at this point.EDIT: I find it interesting that this answer is still getting upvotes a month after the election. It is particularly interesting since the inferences I drew from the observed facts about the change in yard signs didn't hold up to make the outcome in Ohio particularly close. So, here's an additional observed fact: lots of Trump yard signs suddenly appeared on the morning of the election, and just as rapidly disappeared a couple of days later. My reaction to this phenomenon was the realization that Trump voters were scared. Really scared. They really thought that radical leftist mobs would come into their suburban community and — I don't know, burn down their houses or something — hurt them in some way if they revealed their true political opinions. It would be good for the country if we could somehow find a way to put these people back in touch with reality.

I haven’t been to Europe in decades. Do you believe that the current Europe is a better place to live compared to the USA?

Which place is better to live will depend on one’s interests and values as well as the location one might choose in either the U.S. or Europe. My experience living in Cleveland Heights, Ohio is clearly quite different than the experience of someone living in a small town in Alabama or the mountains of Colorado. But one would find even greater differences were one to compare life in various parts of Europe such as Albania, Spain, the UK or Norway.Someone who might enjoy life in Copenhagen might not enjoy living in Serbia or vice versa. Every place will have its own pros and cons. Many places in Europe seem to have found a better balance between work and personal life. Many also offer greater educational opportunities and healthcare. Scandinavia is said to have the best quality of life.I can imagine places I might like to live in Europe and places I might not want to live. The same is true here in the U.S. If you were to kick me out of Cleveland, I think I’d prefer being sent to Stavanger over Las Vegas. On the other hand I’d probably prefer Portland, Maine to Bucharest. Yet someone else might have a completely different opinion.

Will Ohio separate from the US?

Will Ohio separate from the US?Um, wow, this came out of left field.I’ll start with my qualifications, first. I grew up in Lorain, just west of Cleveland, and considered by some to be a suburb of the city. After leaving the Navy, I moved back to Canton, the city where my mother’s family is from, where most of them still live. Two years ago, I moved to the US Virgin Islands, but I still return to Ohio to see my family, and I’m in touch with my kids almost daily. So, I have a pretty good finger on the pulse, politically, culturally, and socially. And I have never, ever heard anyone espouse any opinion that Ohio should secede. If anything, Ohio is one of the firmest states in the union, and leaving that is completely out of the question. I think most of us from Ohio like our status as a swing state, with both a super majority Republican state government, but also with one of the most liberal senators in the U.S. Congress (Sherrod Brown). It amuses us that most non-Ohioans think our state is little more than a flyover, but we all know better. We take pride in our history, enjoy our sports (even though we have some of the worst teams in their leagues), love a good Fourth Of July celebration, and that we were home to the second most number of Presidents (8, just a little less than Virginia). Our home boys were the first to orbit the Earth, and to walk on the Moon. John Glenn and Neil Armstrong are about as American as they come. One of only 4 five star Admirals came from my hometown (Admiral Ernest J. King), as well as Author Toni Morrison. Tim Conway and Margaret Hamilton (the Wicked Witch Of The West) were born in Cleveland. General George Custer came from New Rumley. We have the Football Hall Of Fame, the Inventors Hall Of Fame, Ohio State University (TBDBITL), Ohio University, and a butt ton of other great institutions. In other words, we’re not likely to leave and mess up a great record. We like where we are just fine.Nice try, though.

Comments from Our Customers

I like the ability to incorporate different ways to sign a document with a real signature (as opposed to a digital one) such as uploading an image or typing it in. The ability to add text fields, add dates automatically, and other features is very handy.
