It’s all in the file and on your computer records.W - He can speak for himself, he doesn’t need you. I don’t talk to anyone but the client.M - Again, I am his Trustee and Power of Attorney and your policy manual specifically states that any client may have a representative with him to assist him in any meeting with a worker.W - Well, I don’t let people talk if they aren’t the client.M - Ok, you sit there, and I will do the talking. Zack has a dietary problem. I have the documentation from the doctor specifying the issue and the form signed by him so that Zack can get funding to support a lactose-free diet. Here’s the paperwork.W - I don’t accept that. He didn’t call me first to tell me he was going to the doctor.M - He is not required to call you, either to advise you or get your consent. Here’s the paperwork. I’d like you to process it so that the money is on his next check.W - He probably doesn’t need this. The doctor is probably lying. You just want to get more money from us taxpayers.M- (voice is now stronger and more clipped) Pardon me? Did I hear you say ‘us taxpayers?W - Yes, of course, we’re the ones who support all these people.M - Madam, I am giving you 3 minutes to get a supervisor in here. If you fail to do that, we are leaving and I will be going to the Ministry office and I won’t leave until I speak with the Deputy Minister or the Minister. Now get off your sweet ass and do something positive to earn your paycheck. Do it NOW madam or you may find yourself eating that keyboard.(at this point I have one hand on her keyboard and the computer is beeping like crazy because my fingers are holding down several keys.)She storms out calling for security and the supervisor. About 4 minutes later, security is standing behind my son and I, she’s back in the office and the supervisor is there.S - What’s going on? What’s the problem? Why are you threatening my worker.M - Sir, sorry to disturb you. We’re here to get a medical diet allowance for my son, here. Your staff member is refusing to accept the documentation and the signed paperwork from our doctor specifically stating what diet he needs and why.S - So what’s the problem?M - The problem is, sir, that your employee feels that this money is coming out of her purse because she is a taxpayer. Now with you here, I would like to set the record straight.M - (to the worker but staring at the supervisor) - Madam, you get a paycheck every two weeks signed by the Minister of Finance for the Government of Ontario. My son gets a check once a month also signed by the Minister of Finance for the Government of Ontario. The two of you, and your supervisor, all get paid from the same bank account.M - That money comes from taxpayers. From people not employed by the government. It comes from people like me who actually work for a living.W - I pay taxes on that money! I’m definitely a taxpayer. Don’t play games. This meeting is over.M - No madam, it is not over. You see, you do pay taxes to the federal government but those funds do not go to the provincial government. As I said, you both get your funds from the provincial government. This means you are on a work-for-welfare program and are as dependent upon ordinary citizens paying THEIR taxes as is my son. The reason they deduct what is loosely termed ‘provincial income tax’ is because they realize that for the amount of work you do and effort you put into your job, you are under-qualified and over-paid and they want some of their money back because they don’t feel that REAL taxpayers should have to spend so much to support your fat lazy ass.M - (to supervisor) Now I strongly suggest that you remove my son from this poor excuse of a compassionate human being and get him a new worker that understands or has at least read the policy manual - I will lend you my copy if you don’t have one - and that the paperwork gets processed because if I have to come back, I will have the media reporters and their cameras and we’ll really start talking about how much of a drain on taxpayers YOUR paycheck is compared to what my son receives in the way of disability allowance.M - (to my son) Zack, thank the nice gentleman for his time and this waste of human flesh for her time, we’re leaving.Yes, I was rude, I shouldn’t have mentioned her fat ass.Strange thing though - after that I never had problems with his worker or the workers for my other 3 foster sons - in fact for a few years their worker would call me to tell me of new programs that she’d signed the lads onto.
