Original Question: If Washington DC is considered a 51st state, would we need to buy new flags?We would and there are already designs for 51 star, and 52 star American Flags. I don't personally remember when Hawaii and Alaska became States. I was just a baby, but by the time I went to school we rarely saw a 48 star flag outside of the history books. Here are a 51 star and a 52 star flag with the 50 Star flag in between them.At just a glance it is hard to tell the three apart. So adding one or two more states would not be a major concern in American Flag design. However, it is going to take hundreds of millions of dollars to replace all the 50 star flags, embroidered patches, and flag decals and stickers that we have all over the country.The good news is that our flags never expire, so the old 50 star flags could be used until we were all able to replace all of them. I imagine that most of the ones used outdoors would just continue to be used until they are tattered, then be replaced with the upgraded flags.

Most likely the military would obey his orders unless Congress declares that his invoking of the Insurrection Act was unconstitutional. However, if there is no challenge to the declaration of martial law at 12:01 on Jan 20, when Trump’s term expires, the military will then turn to the new President, Joe Biden, and ask him for new orders. There is no scenario under martial law where Trump remains in office past noon on the 20th as the U.S. Constitution is very clear that this when his term expires and when it comes to the leadership of the U.S. military, the U.S. Constitution always comes first.
