PDF Editor FAQ

What are the top 10 things to be aware of when selling technology to doctors?

Working from an assumption of basically three primary "doc" demographics:Small practice (< 9 docs)Medium practice (say 10 to 30 docs)Large practice (say > 30 docs + IPA's, PPG's, IDN's and Hospitals)The large practice demographic is very similar in size and scope to traditional B2B Enterprise Sales (long cycles, often with RFP's etc...). Selling to the small and medium practice demographic is roughly similar to selling to any SMB (small-to-medium-sized business demographic) - except in the case of the small (sometimes solo) practice. Based on the question - I'll assume that we're not targeting the large practice/enterprise-style sale.FOR the SMB practices, there are primarily 2 software applications that are core to the business.Practice Management (PM) software (accounting, billing and scheduling)Electronic Health/Medical Record (EHR) software (the "clinical" application). There's an entire ecosystem of both - and there is an industry trend currently underway to combine the two - or at the very least have a tightly coupled solution (PM + EHR). There is also an industry trend to move one or both of these functions into "the cloud" so that it's "Software-as-a-Service" (SaaS) - and much lower cost (affordable) to the small and medium sized practices. Here are my 10 caveats:Doctors are CHEAP (NB: Except when it comes to personal tech toys - which they will proudly display in every conceivable direction - except their waiting room). In the case of the small/solo practice - hardware and software purchases are likely to be made through Costco (and/or Fry's Electronics) - not Cisco and Avnet. The reason they're cheap is pretty simple. The small practice they're running is typically a Sole Proprietorship, LLC or *maybe* an S/C Corp - and it may or may not have "partners." First and foremost this is their OWN personal bank roll. This isn't VC money - it's not a bank loan (most of the time) - and it's a really TIGHT (TIGHT) ship. They will often outsource both the billing and accounting function to a local CPA (which can then handle the tax filings as well). Billing may be outsourced separately (because most CPA's don't know how medical reimbursement works). No one does (except the cottage industry of "medical billing services" - and their accuracy is often suspect). Here's the binary decision tree that most docs face when making a software+ hardware purchase for their practice: "... I can buy this technology solution (software + hardware + training + support + maintenance) - and it *may* benefit the practice in some vaguely intangible way - with a hard to calculate ROI ... OR ... I can buy that drop-dead gorgeous condo in Barbados.#5 is NOT a slight in ANY way. Remember - doc training is a really tough slog - for years - with many (many) sacrifices - and NO guarantee. I think the first average salary (post med school) that docs see is during residency - and it's something like $50 - $60K (combined with 100's of thousands of dollars in student debt). If they don't make it into a residency program - they have some really (really) tough choices ahead in terms of a medical career - with about $300k (or more) over their head in student loans. The software/hardware industry around the medium and large practice demographic is a heavily entrenched ecosystem of small-to-medium sized software/IT vendors. I don't recall how many PM solutions there are - but I've seen one calculation recently to suggest that there are now about 1,400 individual (varying sizes) vendors that sell just EHR software. These 2 markets - PM + EHR - are heavily fragmented and the sheer volume is unsustainable. There will be consolidation (and attrition).Companies like Dell, HP, IBM and Toshiba (laptops) tend to be the dominant hardware vendors of choice for this demographic. I would not advocate trying to compete with Dell, HP, IBM or Toshiba on the typical IT hardware side.IF you're selling a medical device into ANY demographic - it better have a reimbursement code (which is in addition to being FDA approved). If it doesn't - you will not advance past the demo unit you graciously give them au gratis (in hopes of getting their vocal endorsement - and ushering in windfall sales). If you are selling a software solution - your best best is to find out if it compliments or extends the functionality of either PM or EHR software - and then try to sell to those demographics - not the docs directly. Why? Most doctors don't have a really strong tie with their IT vendors - and if they do - they don't typically carry enough clout to usher you in on their lab coattails.Oops. 11. Those are mine anyway. Hope it helps.

What are the perks enjoyed by a civil judge juniour division does it get all the facilities like car, police security or big bunglow like an IAS officer? How many year a entry level civil judge take to avail all this facilities and to become cjm?

I will answer with respect to northern states like UP, UK, Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi, HP, Haryana, Rajasthan, MP and Chhattisgarh as I have friends and relatives working as a judge in these states and on the basis of my association with judiciary as a lawyer.Presently the gross salary of a civil judge (JD) is Rs.82000 per month (Basic+DA and no deduction). Deductions are :- 10% in NPS and TDS. Besidesthis they are entitled to few perks like:-1. Petrol Allowance : Rs.6000 (per month)2. Newspaper/Magazine Allowance: reimbursement of bills of 4–5 newspapers&magazines.3. Medical Allowance:- Rs.2000 (per month)4. Telephone and Internet Bill reimbursement.5. Househelp Allowance: Rs.1500 ( per month).6. Reimbursement of 50% of electricity and water bills.7. They are provided with a 3/4 BHK govt accomodation subject to availability. In case govt accommodatio is not available then, they can avail rented accommodation in the civil area which will be reimbursed by the govt (rent upto Rs.15-17k is reimbursed in tier 2&3 cities and upto Rs.30000 in NCR).8. In judiciary no judge except CJM and DJ is entitled to a Govt vehicle. So rest all judges usee their pvt vehicles.9. Apart form these other perodical allownaces(which are given every 3–4 years) are:- spectacle allowance, LTC, furniture allowance, laptop allowance). Except LTC, other allowances differ in amount from state to state. Now this salary and allowances are due for revision as 2nd judicial pay commission has not been implemented yet. That may be implemented in 2021. After that, one can expect an increase of around Rs. 25–30k in total remuneration (including allowances). 2nd Judicial pay commission has recommended new basic salary of a civil judge JD as rs.78200. Now you can calculate the gross salary.Accomodation of District Judge is on par with that of DM and SP. And other judges get similar kind of accomodation as provided to SDM, CDO, ASP, ADM, etc. But as number of judges in a district are more (ranging from 30–60), then few get big bunglow type accomodation while.others get.apartment type accommodation.Only CJM and District Judges are provided with PSOs and guards. For the rest, 2–3 guards are stationed in the judges' colony. Now a civil judge junior division is promoted to senior division generally in 4 yrs, but few can be promoted earlier if there is vacancy. And thereafter it took them around 4 more years to become a CJM. So in all after 8 yrs an entry level civil judge can become a CJM (depending on the vacancy). And from CJM to ADJ it took another 4 yrs. So generally a civil judge can get promoted to the ADJ rank in about 12 yrs (if there are lot of vacancy, then this time will be less). But it is not important that all Civil Judges will become a CJM. It depends on many factors like seniority, rank in the batch, etc. So it is possible that one gets promoted to the ADJ without getting a posting of CJM.If you want a secured govt job with decent lifestyle, prestige, good salary and no political interference then Judiciary is the best service. Transfers are regulated and not arbitrary as in IAS. An entry level civil judge gets Rs.30000 more in salary as compared to an entry level IAS. And other perks are almost same. And mind you, even IAS gets security and house helps ony when they are posted in field. Once they are posted in secretariat, they get nothing special.P.S. : At present 3 advance increments are given to the judges who hold LLM degree. That means an additional Rs. 5000/month.

What are some of the Indian laws that people generally don't know about?

1. Whenever traffic police stops you for checking license or papers, he/she does NOT have any right to seize the key of your bike or car.Anyone who rides on Indian roads must have faced this or at least seen it happen. Police officers just take out the keys to the vehicle, even though this is completely AGAINST the law. But most Indians are unaware of this, so they say nothing and face harassment at the hands of the police.Next time a traffic police stops you and takes out the keys to your vehicle, do not remain silent and teach him the law.Another option is to carry a duplicate key with you in your pocket, so that even if the police takes your original key, you have another one which you can use to just drive away right in front of police's eyes :P (though I do not recommend this).2. In case of an accident arising out of explosion of LPG cylinders at home, consumers are ensured for upto Rs 40 lakhs in events of death or damage to property (you might have heard of this somewhere). This is partly true. Both, the LPG companies (oil companies) and the LPG Distributors (Gas agencies) take Third Party Liability Insurance. No premium is collected from the LPG customer. The LPG accident victims can claim insurance from the company and also from his/her local Gas Agency(distributor). This third party liability policy (public liability policy) provides personal accident cover, reimburses medical expenses and covers property damage at authorized customer’s registered premises. The sum assured given to the accident victims is based on per event(accident) and per person (victim). Here is the Public Liability Policy taken by Indian Oil(Indane Gas), Bharat Petroleum (Bharat Gas) and Hindustan Petroleum (HP Gas) companies. These companies have taken the insurance policy from United Insurance Company Ltd.Below are the insurance coverage details:1. Personal accident: Rs 5 lakh per person per event.2. Medical expenses: Rs 15 lakhs per event, maximum Rs 1 lakh per person,3. Property damage: Maximum Rs 1 lakh at authorized customers' registered premises. The maximum limit of liability is as follows:1. Per event: Rs 50 lakhs2. Per person: Rs 10 lakhsTo claim insurance, the LPG customer must immediately inform the distributor in writing. The distributor then informs the concerned oil company and the insurance company about the same. The local distributor has to assist the customer in completing the formalities of the insurance claim.Source: Do LPG Consumers really have Rs 40 Lakh Insurance cover?

I entered the workforce 10 years ago. The company I worked at was a heavy deal and sign off company, and I was constantly running around the office with a manila folder and a pen to get signatures from everyone I needed. If I lost my document before getting the 10 signatures I needed, I would have to start all over from the bottom of the chain. If CocoDoc existed when I was an assistant, I would have gotten so many wasted hours back. CocoDoc is a product that I will not be able to work without from hereon out. I was introduced to it in my current position, at the very first moment that I had to sign on boarding paperwork. I fell in love almost instantly. CocoDoc allows you to prepare one digital document for execution by as many people as needed. You can set the order that people sign, insert fields for them to type in pertinent information, and send out the document with a few clicks of a button. It is legally binding. I can't write enough about how amazing CocoDoc is. I have literally never had a negative experience with it. I wish I could use my business account for everything -- signing leases and personal documents would be a breeze with this thing.
