Oh yes, on several occasions. The first one nearly made me and my staff gag. A lady brought in her 3 foster children. I had a contract with DHS(CPS in some states). She brought in these children who by all accounts, their parents were Rastafarians, and “followers” of Bob Marley and Ziggy Marley. They had made dreadlocks out of their very blond children's hair using pommade and “hair rats" (hair gathered through brushing then “glued" into living, growing hair by deliberate matting the two together via use of pommade). DHS called my salon to set these children appointments to “remove these matts no matter the methods or cost". I had a girl on staff in one of my 3 hair salons who happened to have a Jamaican father. She was familiar with the process of making and removing as well as refurbishing dreadlocks as well as straightening ethnic hair, extensions (before everyone in Hollywood was getting them), extension braids.The second set of kids, also DHS kids, were brought in by DHS, were 12, 11, 8, and 5 years old. They had very greasy, matted hair. It looked like it had never had washed their hair. Their scalps were covered with scaley dander with curling edges and we could see blood under the scales. It was all over all four of the children's heads.I had to call the DHS case worker and she made it to my shop in 17 minutes. We put plastic hair coloring bags on the children's heads and told them to not scratch their heads.I found out later that from the DHS worker that the children were hospitalized with not only a head parasite but had an agressive “yeast infection" of the scalp. I had heard of thrush, cradle cap, psoriasis, and dandruff. Never any type of “parasitic yeast infection".
