PDF Editor FAQ

Did you ever get an order from someone who had absolutely no authority over you? What was it and what did you do?

Yes - just last year… I’m working on my new house, the new neighbor who just bought their house tells me “you need to move your van, so my husband can park his truck there!Uhh, no - my van, is on MY PROPERTY - it’s not going anywhere. The previous owners of both our houses had some agreement, where the neighbor parked his camper partly on my property, but that wasn’t with me.I told her this clearly, along with the fact that I have 5 cars, and I NEED my parking…She goes on a rant about building a new garage behind her house (not possible, there’s no space with the now-required side yard setbacks) and will be using my driveway… “Yeah, no.” She insists it’s a “shared driveway” (No it is not, there WAS an easment, but parking is not allowed on an easement, which dissolved anyway when the old neighbor removed their old garage.)I had to park my van and another car up at the curb end of my driveway for a year to stop them from parking on my property. they finally put up a fence along the property line (oh, there’s more drama there too…They left a nasty note about *I* have to respect the property lines, and then they had workers re-siding the house, who come and setup on my property - I tossed them. They come over yelling at my wife, who reminds them of their nasty note about respecting the property line, and they shut up. LOL.) and that stopped being a problem. Now they keep their garbage cans on my side of their house - which is odd because it’s the farthest from their door or driveway. Just seems kinda obnoxious. And the damn cans keep falling into my yard (strong wind lately)…. It’s going to be a problem if the can scratches my car…Right now I have two lawyers working on it… They’ll have 2 choices, sign the papers and be done, or we litigate and I’ll make it cost them a LOT of money.

My neighbor signed a driveway agreement with the previous owner of my home to use my driveway, but the agreement doesn't have my property listed in the property description. The description only includes his own lot. Is the agreement still valid?

An agreement between two individuals is only binding upon those two individuals. In order for such an agreement for shared use to be binding upon future owners of the property, an easement would have to be recorded and it would run with the deed, not with whoever happens to own the property at the time. So, check the deed. If there’s nothing regarding a shared driveway in the form of an easement, then your neighbor has no right to continue using your driveway. I am not an attorney and am not offering legal advice but rather opinion however, so verify everything for yourself.

Have you ever had to call the police to report your neighbors?

I should have called the cops quite a few times on my current neighbor. She's completely psychotic. she flipped out on me because I prefer to leave my garbage can at the middle of our long ass steep shared driveway and there's no Town ordinance about leaving your garbage can at the road and our landlord gave me permission to do it. But she still decided to threaten me with a shotgun. Then she mysteriously crashed her car and convinced my elderly upstairs neighbor to let her use her car and during that process she somehow logged into my neighbor's bank account and ordered a replacement debit card or a secondary debit card on her account and transferred about $3,000 from her savings to her checking and then when the mail came because we all had an agreement back then that if one of us went to go get our mail that we would grab the neighbors mail also because all of our mailboxes are together and in a very dangerous spot. So she took that card and stole over $3,000 from my elderly upstairs neighbor while using her car and also took that debit card to the store to buy food and cigarettes. then when my upstairs neighbor noticed that there was money missing from her account and she was talking to the psycho neighbor saying that she needed to go to the bank to figure out what was going on, the psycho neighbor told her everything that she had done and begged my upstairs neighbor not to have her arrested. So of course my upstairs neighbor called the cops and the psycho-admitted everything that she did to the police on record. But they had to get proof of everything from the bank and from the gas station and every other place that it was found out she had made transactions at in order to arrest her. So in the meantime we were all keeping extra eyes out on the psycho and I already had security cameras up so I started reporting to the police on the strange visitors that the psycho would have usually relate at night which were obviously drug dealers. And my upstairs neighbor had even told me that she had been bringing the psycho to con her family out of money so that she could go and buy Percocets illegally. So this woman finally got arrested last week on seven charges, one of them being a felony for identity theft. Then a couple days later the landlord came to give her notice that she was being evicted because she had also broken every single rule on her lease during the 6 or so months before all of this went down so now he has a massive case against her. But after he came and gave her notice she started flipping out on me and my elderly upstairs neighbor and screaming at my cameras basically threatening us, like threatening our lives, and claiming that she's not only suing the landlord but she's assuming me and the elderly upstairs neighbor that she robbed because she got arrested for breaking the law herself. So don't feel bad if you ever need to call the cops on a neighbor because I've been terrified to leave my apartment for the last 6 or so months because of this psycho.Sorry if that was a long rant and didn't make sense, I'm currently cooking dinner and using voice to text to write this…
