PDF Editor FAQ

Was Thomas Wayne lying in Joker (2019 film)?

Nope.He had the question posed to him in the restroom by Arthur, without forwarning, or giving him a chance to rehearse the answer before meeting his “son”. His response was quick, informative, and dismissive. In that moment, had Tom been lying, Tom would have been facing his own son which would have given him some pause at least, but instead he was facing a crazy man who had put his hands on Tom’s son Bruce, and this crazy man very badly needed to be punched in the mouth. There was no hesitation or realization going on in that scene. There was only Tom’s fist. He might be an arrogant elitist politician, but he's also a man who values family. The evidence fabrication was very unnecessary. Creating a fake certificate of adoption is more problematic than just denying the kid is yours, particularly during a period that predates DNA testing. If he wanted her out all he had to do was lock the doors, which he did. The certificate of adoption is evidence that Arthur was adopted.Penny’s denial is consistent with her mental health. It would not matter what evidence is brought to her. She would have an explanation for anything that maintains the truth she has chosen. This speculation from moviegoers is missing the fact that Penny was crazy herself. Perhaps they believe that her mental illness was caused by being fired, instead of the other way around.

Do people who give up their baby for adoption still think about their child years after (even though they have not seen the child since birth)?

My Mother in Law certainly did. She gave her daughter up for adoption in 1949, at the behest of a family both unwilling and unable to assist her in bringing a child up as “an unwed mother”. Times were very different thenShe married, had three children with her husband, who knew of her first daughter’s birth and adoption. She mad a “promise” of sorts to her husband, who neither demanded nor expected it… or even truly KNEW of it… to NOT seek her daughter out as long as her husband lived. When my Father in Law died she started her search in Earnest. It was very close to fifty years after the adoption, which took place in England and we live in AustraliaIt took six and a half years of admirable determination. To see a woman well into her seventies trudging across the globe every year, contacting magazines with “Desperately Seeking Susan” stories, going to literally hundreds of churches in the hopes of finding baptism certificates… she joined Jigsaw and they had told her that the likelihood of her finding “Susan” was very remote and relied ENTIRELY on “Susan” looking for herOne day my Mother in Law, who I have known for 45 years and have NEVER seen cry, not at the death of her husband or grandson, rang me, crying. She’d found her. “Susan” had discovered while sorting out her ‘mother’s’ estate that she was adopted. Not by finding a certificate of adoption, but by having to go to get a death certificate for her mother and trying to get a birth certificate for herself, which she had never seen. The woman behind the counter said “mmm, can’t find it in that name… you’re not adopted are you… that happened last week, haha”…. And so she discovered her ‘mother’s’ secretShe immediately set about trying to find my Mother in Law, it took only a few weeks from that date. My Mother in Law went to England to meet her that summer, Gill (‘Susan”) was by then 56 years old. My Mother in Law had thought of her EVERY day of those 56 yearsMy Mother in Law is now 92 years old, we saw her yesterday and she told me of the chat she had with Gill the day before. They have seen each other for a few months at least every other year for nearly twenty years, my MiL’s trips have sadly now ended… but the hole in her heart has long since been, if not mended, patched together with love

Who gets to name abandoned babies?

Specific procedures vary from state to state. But it’s typically a two-step process.* The person who finds the baby or the police officer who takes custody of the baby files a form that documents the finding. This is sometimes known as “foundling birth certificate” (or simply “certificate of finding”.) It would have a field for a first name. In some states (e.g. Washington state) someone gets to file a regular certificate of live birth but with words “foundling child” written in the area where parents’ information normally goes. This is crucial because it provides the child with essential documentation of his legal status, which all normal children would get in the form of a birth certificate (it would have the child’s estimated date of birth, for example.) The law must provide the child with basic paperwork that would allow him/her to have a normal life even if he/she does not get adopted before the age of 18.* At a later point, someone else adopts the baby. (It’s possible that some states would make it optional, but typically taking custody of a foundling and filing the form does not, by itself, make you a parent.) The decree of adoption has two separate fields, “original name” (one under which the child is currently in the system) and “new name”, which can be anything you want.Since social services workers know that the child might get renamed by adoptive parents anyway, it is common to use a fake / placeholder name on the foundling birth certificate, such as “Baby Boy Doe”. In some cases (safe haven / safe surrender programs) it is actually the recommended procedure, designed to provide anonymity to the biological mother.Since there are many more couples interesting in adopting than thare are abandoned children, it may be the case that prospective adopters turn up before the certificate of finding is filed, and then the final name could go straight in there.
