What were your marks in the CAPF AC?
Paper I 149.86Paper II 93Interview 87Focus on getting 160+ in the written as u can stop worrying about d interview marks in that case. With good physicals & medicals, one can definitely crack it afterwards.Good Luck
How many months are enough for CAPF AC preparation?
Let me give a detailed answer. I will be digressing a little bit. However I feel the right context is necessary to answer this question. There are 3 categories of aspirants for this examCategory 1 : CSE AspirantsCategory 2 : Defense Aspirants (CDS,AFCAT etc)Category 3 : Fully focussed on CAPF AC examI don't know which category the OP belongs to. However I'll give broad outlines for each category.Category 1 : CSE Aspirants (I fall in this category)The examination pattern of CSE and CAPF AC are very much overlapping. Hence CSE aspirants have a good headstart in the General Awareness and the Current Affairs section. I have known aspirants who have scored 160+ in this year's paper (2018) when the cut-off is around 95 marks . Moreover answer writing would be an added advantage. So,for Category 1 folks I would recommend solving PYQs of Aptitude section , preparing Science section diligently and practising Report and Precis writing properly. Overall 2–4 weeks is probably sufficient provided you have good command over General Studies and Current Affairs.Category 2 : Defense AspirantsDefense aspirants have much to cheer about too. Your preparation of Aptitude section and Science based MCQs will give you an added advantage in the exam. But your most important strength is your Jazba ; your Josh for joining the Arned forces of the Union! This can fetch you good marks in the interview as well. However you need to improve upon your General studies to score well. A mere reading of Lucent GK, for instance will not help. Always understand your competition is with those CSE aspirants who are thorough in this section. At the same time as a member of that CSE community let me tell you a truth you already know : ALL CSE Aspirants started with nothing. Probably even lesser knowledge than you already have. So buck up and read all the standard textbooks required for the CSE. Start reading the newspaper daily. You will be only shortchanging yourself if you take shortcuts. Just 6 months of rigorous studies and you'll master Polity, economics, History, Geography and Current world events.Category 3 : Fully focussed on CAPFLet me congratulate you Sir/Mam because you are a rare kind. I have known aspirants who are singly focused on this exam and I respect them for their decision. Then again, such aspirants should realise that CAPF AC is a cold heartless exam. Here the selection is only based on merit rather than your willingness to join the forces. What I mean to say is you will have to understand the level of the competition faced and outwork the other aspirants. If you need guidance you can enroll into a Coaching institute or take up help of online resources available on YouTube, Unacademy or other platforms. If you choose to self-study invest a good 8–10 months to prepare. Break down the syllabus into small parts and constantly evaluate yourself through a test series. Get into a habit of reading newspaper daily. This will help you form your own opinion (necessary for Paper 2 and interview) and keep you updated with Current Affairs.Understand that no one can help you but yourself. The learning speed , aptitude , knowledge base, family background and financial security etc vary widely for different aspirants. The information I have provided are just broad guidelines and will not apply to everyone. You be your own judge. Check out Previous year question papers, Analyse your strengths and weaknesses. Then decide how much time you will need to devote for cracking CAPF AC.All the Best!Jai Hind!
Does UPSC preparation help with any other exams?
I appeared in multiple exams along with my UPSC preparation. So I can give you details of my experience in this.I cleared the exams which had a syllabus overlap with UPSC CSE, or required quantitative aptitude, and English only.Details of exams I have appeared in, and how UPSC gyan helped me:UPSC CAPF AC : Qualified, Same syllabus as of UPSC CSE. It is a very good backup for CSE aspirants.SBI PO/IBPS PO: Qualified, but No help from UPSC Prep. Always sailed through bank exams just because of English. I remember scoring 27–28 out of 30 in English in both these exams. I lacked the speed and practice required for Quant in prelims. However in mains, I used to do good in Quant as speed was not an issue there.SSC CGL 2017: Qualified, UPSC syllabus helped me to get good marks in GK in Tier-1. Rest, I don't think I got benefitted anywhere else.Scored around 160 in tier-1 and 310 in tier-2.(Making a total of around 470/600). 180 in English; 130 in Maths.CAT 2018: Had nothing to do after UPSC mains. So appeared in CAT. Surprisingly UPSC preparation helped me in the Verbal and RC section. The comprehension passages didn't appear to be totally new because of the wide reading I had done for UPSC. Infact, there was a passage on Cussini-Huygens which looked very similar to the one which I read during my mains preparation. Almost zero role of UPSC prep in QA and DILR sections. My score was at around 97th %ile. Obviously didn't get a call from IIM ABC.AFCAT: Huge Help from UPSC prep. Always scored 240+.RBI/SEBI/NIACL: All failed. I have failed in all exams which require any special preparation like RBI Grade B, SEBI grade A etc. Though UPSC preparation can help in GK section in the 1st stage, but the syllabus is different in the 2nd stage, which is difficult to be cracked without preparation.Note: Don’t prepare for multiple exams. UPSC CSE needs resolved focus for atleast 2 years.
