What should the Democrats do to flip Arizona blue in the 2020 presidential election?

What should the Democrats do to flip Arizona blue in the 2020 election? They could keep doing more of the crazy stuff in California with regulation after regulation and tax after tax. People with the financial ability to go elsewhere are doing it. It’s turned Oregon and Washington blue and Colorado purple. It won’t take much for disgruntled Democrats to do that in Arizona. But it’s surprising that they do that Einstein insanity thing and keep voting Democrat over and over. The only time that didn’t happen in was in 2016 when Colorado had a chance to enact single payer healthcare. Even the California transplants couldn’t stomach that and this is what happened when the only poll that counts was conducted, the one at the ballot box.Single-Payer Health Care Dream Dies In Colorado

Have you ever quit a job and walked out without giving any notice? What caused you to leave so urgently?

I was 19 and working part time at a home improvement company. The week before my paint department manager had just walked off the job with no notice. This left two of us in the department. I was a college student and this was my only income. I worked afternoons and weekends and the other person was a good looking female who only worked weekends that the floor manager had a crush on, and considered me competition. I was not attracted to my co-worker.I was late for work one Saturday. 10 minutes late and it was my first time being late. The floor manager suspended me from work for the weekend. This of course hurt me financially. I didn’t make much as it was.On Monday when I came in for my afternoon shift I went to speak to the General Manager about my suspension. I opened up the company policy book and showed the GM how first time late was a verbal warning, second time written reprimand, and third could result in suspension. I stated this was my first time late. The manager tore up my written suspension and told me to get to work. Nothing about paying me for the weekend. Nothing about talking to the floor manager.I quit on the spot and left them with no one in the paint department. The only employee who knew how to mix paints and run the department other than the female who worked weekends was the floor manager. I hope he had fun doing both jobs for awhile.

Have you ever declined a top university?

Yup. I was accepted to Johns Hopkins with a small scholarship, and within a week of my acceptance I knew there was no way I could go there. The issue was that I was barely offered any financial aid. The offer I received was way off from the online calculator total (which might have been our fault if we put in incorrect numbers, but I’m not sure), and they counted the scholarship I received toward my financial aid, which ended up reducing the amount I was qualified to receive. We tried talking to the financial aid office, but they wouldn’t budge. Going there would have put me and my parents into tens of thousands of dollars worth of debt, and it just wasn’t worth years of financial struggle to go there.Figuring this out was honestly devastating. I remember shaking as I hit the decline offer button on their website. Hopkins was my dream school, and getting in was one of my proudest moments. No one else from my high school had gotten accepted, and word made it around pretty quickly, both when I was accepted and when I turned down the offer. It was already hard enough having to say no to such an amazing school, but having people question how I could dare to say no when so many other people would have killed to go there was heartbreaking. I didn’t feel bad for “taking someone else’s spot” because I didn’t; I just applied to a school. I did feel incredibly sad for the constant reminder of my choice, though. That being said, that negative feeling only lasted about a week. My parents encouraged me to take a look at the other schools to which I was accepted, so we traveled to a few schools. My mom and I ended up flying to the University of Arizona (which, funnily enough, I was accepted to months back) for their admitted students’ day. We toured the school the day before the event, and about five minutes into the tour I knew the school was a perfect fit; it was beautiful, everyone was so friendly, and the geoscience department was one of the best in the world. Admitted students’ day just solidified that decision for me. My mom and I had so much fun meeting new people and learning more about the U of A. And, importantly, it was a school I could easily afford thanks to their generous academic scholarships.I’m less than a month away from completing my freshman year here in Arizona, and I couldn’t be more happy with my decision to come here. I have had so many amazing opportunities the past year to learn, research, and travel, and I still have three years to go. I’ve made some amazing friends, and I absolutely love the geoscience department, from the classes to the clubs to the professors and students. I am incredibly grateful to every opportunity that has been afforded to me, and I’m looking forward to every minute of the rest of my time here. So, my advice to anyone who, for one reason or another, has to turn down their dream school is this: You’ll be okay. You have worked so hard to get where you are, and if you keep looking and keep an open mind, you will find opportunities that you might never have dreamed of before. A year ago, the thought of moving over a thousand miles away to Arizona seemed worlds away, but here I am now, happier than I could have imagined.
