My father recently discharged from NIMHANS after 11 days of admission. So, I think I have experience worth sharing. This Hospital deals with Neurosurgery, Neurology, Psycartry and child health cases only not a multi specialist Hospital.To begin with-” If you want to get treated you can find doctor in many Hospitals but for best treatment go to NIMHANS” quoting is easy but why I quoted is more important. My experience is as followsDay 1: I made online appointment for NIMHANS using- ORS Patient PortalIt's quite easy and important as you don't want to be in line for 3–4 hrs. Daily 2000–3000 OPD cases.Usually it's very difficult to get admission even if the case is critical, they admit only if- It's rare case or it can't be solved anywhere else. They only take challenging cases.I registered at 9 AM at registration counter and Doctor saw us at 2:30 PM- It's very important to be patient because it's worth waiting, diagosis continued till 1 hr and admitted us. Admission process completed by 7 PM(Almost-10hrs of waiting). Very same day they started taking case details and it continued till 12 AM. This shocking as I was in govt Hospital where doors closes at 7PM.From day 2 onwards treatment started at 7AM and continued till 12AM. So please understand the commitment of Doctors.Importance of NIMHANS:1- Best Case study-For first few days they take patients treatment history from childhood along with diagosis not by one doctor but by multiple doctors. It usually continues for 2–3 hrs per doctor. They analyse the medications with side effects of every drug consumed by patient, this is just greatness. The purpose is to find out the root cause. They plan for treatment if and only if they know the cause of disease. If they didn't find out the cause, case study and investigation will not end. They believe in not wasting any resources.2- Don't prescribe unwanted tests-They accept the tests report ​by other Hospitals and don't prescribe any test which is not require even an ECG.3- Experienced, Sensible, Professional and Best doctors and MTS team:Here doctors are very simple and highly experienced( thanks to 2000–3000 OPD patients daily) They explain the every detail to you and why they are doing.NB: Here not only doctors but also safaiwala to wardboy every staff if dedicated to their work only.4- Economic:The test fee is minimal- One test which costed 25000 at NIMHANS, costs 5,00,000 in Singapore, Food 120 INR for one complete day etc5- Lively environment:The environment is great two tier vintage building or spacious rooms etc love it.6- Government Hospitals but second to none.7- Research oriented methodology- For them every case is unique. They take videos of reactions post and pre treatment, record growth evaluation by multiple doctors.I feel it's best as- It offers treatment in a naturally refreshing environment with great doctors with high-tech gadgets at a low cost. I feel happy that many can treat their loved ones from best doctors at best price.Here I would like to add few things as I received queries on these topics.1- Accommodation-You can only get accommodated in Hospital after you get admission.There are 3 types of accommodation after admission and rates are also.affordable-A) Private rooms- Single accommodation-B) Semi Private rooms- Double sharing (400/day)C) General Ward- Multiple sharing.I couldn't recall exact rates for other two categories but they vary from 1000–100. For updated rates hopital authority's consent must be taken.Here, one attendant is allowed to stay with patient. If many persons are there you to book guest house. There are 2–3 guest houses where one room is 500/- per day. There is also infosys dharamashala (A hall) where group of persons sleep on the floor and luggage is at your risk. It's 10/- per person per day.For first timers/Repeaters - You have to book hotel to stay till you get admission into hospital. No matter from where you are you have to come on daily basis to get consultation.There are few hotel nearby to hospital ranging between 700–1000 per day.What I did was booked an hotel at J C Road (TAP Gold Crest-5Kms) did up and down using Uber/Ola. My hotel had pool game, big lobby and spacious rooms, it's very decent and I booked online for 500/- and conveyance costed me around 50–60 per day for up and down.Here is a trick when Ola's price is high Uber is cheap and vice versa. Town bus ticket is 10/- per person. For hotel I used GoIbibo.Hope this edit also helps.
