Even when they make it onto your person, which will inevitably happen at distances you didn't know were possible. Having a change of clothes at work is normal for you.overly anxious parents with 10,000 questions even when their appointment is supposed to last 15 minutes.incompetent parents who bring in a 90lb 3-year-old, setting the new record for the clinic/hospital's obesity statistic.parents who believe that vaccines cause autism; bonus points if you can patiently explain to them how ~10,000,000 people have proven that idiotic theory wrong; double bonus points if you don't lose your marbles when the parents refuse to believe you.the absurd amount of paperwork per child, and/or time spent typing up notes that are often not templatized into the EMR.the pain of losing a child to an incurable condition, and knowing that all you could do was alleviate the child's pain (if that).putting children in pain as necessary (shots).You don't want to:put people to sleep and then wake them up all day.see patients short-term.take care of patients by staring at monitors.have the only conversation you have with patients be about their consent for anesthesia.play Angry Birds and get paid during that time.sit/stand all day in an OR.be limited to being the person generally responsible for airway.Disclaimer: I have nothing against either specialty, but have presented this with some biases for the sake of the question.
