First example that came to mind…OMG it's another Stephen Chow movie!This movie is called From Beijing with Love. It was a parody of James Bond. In this movie, Stephen Chow was Secret Agent 007 working for the Communist Chinese government, but he has to work as a butcher to make ends meet.Much like James Bond, Stephen Chow has his armourer/gadgeteer that was a parody of Q. He was an eccentric man named Da Wenxi who obviously got his name from the artist Leonardo da Vinci.In Cantonese however, and I especially emphasize this was Cantonese profanity, “xi” or “sai" could also mean p**** (female body part). Therefore, his name could also mean smelling p**** (聞閪) aka “oral.”Da Wenxi will get upset at this and always demand to be referred to by his full name. It was a repeating gag throughout the whole movie.How about an opposite example?There was a Hong Kong TVB drama named The Princess is Married Here (Can't Buy Me Love). I haven't watched this series but I've seen this clip which became a meme.The assassin was caught and stated his name is not Yuwen Jie. He is a Turkish prince whose true name is “Ashina Sabi.” Although Ashina was an actual royal family name of Turks, if you read his name in Mandarin, it sounds like “I am a stupid idiot.”When the series was brought to mainland China, it legitimately caused a huge uproar of laughter.

I think it’s a superb weapon myself.I carried a pre-WWII version in .32 ACP many, many years ago. I kept it stoked with Winchester Silvertips and it never malfunctioned. It was amazingly accurate for a gun of its size, too. This was the exact model and caliber carried by Bond, James Bond.And nobody can seem to mention the PPK without making reference to 007.These days, I carry the “hybrid” PPK/S very often. It has the short slide and barrel of the PPK, but the longer grip frame and additional magazine capacity of the “full-size” Model PP.Many people found the sharp edges of the original gun objectionable, but the newer ones (made in Fort Smith, Arkansas) have gently smoothed those out.Lots of folks compare it to the Makarov and seem to prefer it. If I had the choice, I’d choose the Walther, just so long as it isn’t the one made by Smith & Wesson when they partnered with Walther to produce the gun here in America 20 years ago or so. Those guns are pieces of crap, and the gun was a disaster. It was a huge black eye for Walther. And I think I’m being generous by calling it a piece of crap. German, French and the new American-made models are all superb guns.The Walther does have a rather stiff, heavy double-action trigger pull. But that’s a trait shared by many DA/SA semi-autos. Subsequent shots, fired single-action, are quite nice on my gun, with about a 3.5 pound trigger pull with only the slightest amount of take-up and creep.And I like the fact that the slide does lock open on the last shot, a feature not shared by many semi-autos of this size. There is no external slide release. The slide is released by retracting the slide a bit and releasing it on either a fresh magazine, or with no magazine at all. (The gun will fire without a magazine in place, thank God.)If the S&W version is all I’m offered, I’d choose the Makarov myself!
