Most modern mounts have a feature that will let you achieve astrophotography-grade polar alignment without having to see Polaris. Celestron calls this feature "All-Star Polar Alignment," and the other manufacturers use different names for the same technique. It's more time-consuming than traditional polar alignment, but here's how it works:***NOTE: I only have experience with Celestron equatorial mounts, specifically a Celestron CGEM, so I'll be explaining the alignment process with their terminology and UI. I imagine it won't work too differently with another manufacturer's mount, but I would suggest checking the instruction manual or Google to confirm.----------1) Using a compass and/or stellarium app on a mobile device (SkySafari, etc.), point your mount roughly in the direction of Polaris. The closer you can get it, the easier it will be to complete the rest of the process.2) Turn on your mount and set it to home position. Select "Two-Star Alignment to allow your mount to model the sky, and as many calibration stars as possible to make the model more accurate. It's important that you be precise in this step. It may be helpful to use a low-power eyepiece to locate your target stars if you don't have a finderscope. When centering the star in your field-of-view, switch to a higher-power, illuminated reticle eyepiece. I recommend purchasing an illuminated reticle EP if you don't own one because if you're focusing on astrophotography, it's going to be one of the only EP's you'll still find useful.3) Look at the sky and choose a bright star (preferably a named star so you don't need to look up its catalog number). Slew to it using your hand controller's database and press the "Align" button. Select "Polar Align," then "Align Mount."4) At this point, the mount will move to the position the target star would be if the mount was polar-aligned. The accuracy of this position depends on how well you performed Step 2. Using only the altitude and azimuth knobs, and NOT THE RIGHT ASCENSION/DECLINATION BUTTONS ON THE HAND CONTROLLER (I don't often type in all caps, which indicates how important that last statement is), center the target star in your field-of-view. A reticle eyepiece comes in handy here as well. When you've centered the star as accurately as possible, press the "Align" button to complete the ASPA process.5) (Optional) The sky model your mount generated in Step 2 will be off by whatever amount you had to adjust your altitude and azimuth knobs in Step 4. If it's a significant amount ("significant" is up to you, but I like to judge it based on whether or not the object I'm trying to locate will still be in my camera's FOV), power the mount off and on again to reset its sky model and perform another two-star alignment/calibration to create an updated one.6) (Also optional) To further improve your alignment's accuracy, you may wish to perform a "drift alignment," a technique that works the same regardless of manufacturer or alignment process. I am having terrible time with Maruti Suzuki. Let me explain.I purchased a new Celerio LXI optional model in 2017 with AMT and ABS. This model does not come with factory fitted audio system. I wanted to buy an after market unit with better features and at a fraction of cost that Maruti Suzuki sells. Here's where my troubles started.My new car was missing grommet/boot sets for all the four doors.Grommet/rubber boot is essential to protect the audio/power window cables which run from car body to doors from rain and dust. I contacted the dealer and they had no clue why my car did not have this part. Please note that I had already purchased an audio unit and speakers at this stage. Subsequently, I submitted a complaint on Maruti’s online portal. An area customer service manager contacted me and seemed to dig into this issue fast. I was impressed.This is where the story takes a wicked back flip.After a lot of confusing exchange of information between me, the dealer and the area customer service manager, finally it was decided that a wiring harness supplied by Maruti is the only option. Each wiring harness costs Rs. 1200!!! So, for four doors I had to spend Rs. 4800!!! All this cost for a rubber conduit and some wires. Please note that this is not designed for audio systems but for power windows. I will have to use the grommet and throw away the cables! I argued with the Maruti area manager extensively and finally his answer/argument was as follows: “Sir, why don’t you buy audio system from Maruti?”.By this time I was tired of this cat and mouse game and shelved the whole idea of fitting an audio system in my car! This whole affair took more than 6 months. Till date my problem stands unresolved and my audio system and speakers are rotting in the cupboard.I have a few questions for Maruti Suzuki:If you do not want customers to fit after market music system, then, why sell a car without one? Why provide space for audio system and speakers?Why was I not made aware of this issue before I purchased the car?Why doesn’t Maruti sell grommet/ boot without the cables? Door Grommet/ boot has no part number in Maruti parts catalog!!!!!!! You can’t buy this part without the wiring harness.Hope my story helps some one. This definitely is a case of arm twisting by Maruti.I had a similar horrible delayed delivery story from Maruti Suzuki. That story for some other day. Only thing I can say is, avoid Maruti Suzuki vehicles.
