Field Trip Evaluation: Fill & Download for Free

When my son was in first grade, he was sent home with a permission slip for a field trip. I wanted him to clear the counter so I could make dinner. He fought me on it. I told him that if he didn’t get it done, I was going to mark that he wouldn’t be allowed to go on the field trip. He didn’t do it and I promptly marked that he did not have permission to go on the trip.A few weeks later, I get a call from the school. The teacher didn’t pay attention to the fact that I marked that he wasn’t allowed to go, so she failed to prepare something for him. They wanted me to come get him.I felt horrible that he wasn’t going. I refused to change my mind because I didn’t want to encourage the mindset that I wouldn’t follow through with what I said. This experience taught me a valuable lesson about evaluating punishments/consequences before offering them. I had impulsively used the field trip because I knew he wanted to go and I thought that the threat of taking it away would motivate him to do what I wanted. I didn’t think through the idea that it might NOT motivate him. I still follow through on punishments, but I make sure it’s something I’m actually comfortable with following through on.

Actually, I think that a creative teacher could make this invitation backfire in a helpful way.Make the field trip the culmination of a curriculum section on “Critical Thinking and Evaluation of Competing Arguments.”Ask the students to write a capstone essay on the topic “Use what you learned in this section to evaluate the claims made by the Ark Encounter during our field trip.”I’ll bet that exercise would do more to inoculate students against Creationist cooties than any amount of counter propaganda.(BTW, I’m not sure why the OP limited the question to atheists. Plenty of us Christians are appalled and embarrassed by Hovind and his ilk, and are more than happy to help counter their message.)

Usually 2–3 projects run together where all members contribute their share.Apart from projects aiming at creating an entrepreneur we also have drives involving donation and educating the poor to keep the team motivated and also to know the needy closely and have a better view at their problems.It is an establishing society of the college and is generating funds along with gaining experience. It will definitely take time to establish and has also witnessed downfalls but is in full swing at the moment.If you are willing to do something for the society and have a head for the business.
