PDF Editor FAQ

How hard did you prepare for the CA Final exam?

Although no rank, but I bagged 3 exemptions and qualified with this strategy of mine.I assume that you have completed your classes and done with one reading of your entire course.Group IFinancial Reporting - Shubham Agarwal's answer to Which is the best summary book for financial reporting for the CA Final?SFMPrepared a summary of all formulas and important concepts and noted the important/ambiguous/frictional sums with the catch involved in it. Glimpse of my summary sheets-I also referred Mayank Kothari Sir’s compiler of question. It covered all concepts in the least questions possible and it was helpful.3. Audit - Shubham Agarwal's answer to How do I study the CA final audit to score 60+?4. Law - Revise as much as possible and solve all MCQs provided by ICAI. Law being lengthy and compared to the time available a day before exams, it needs maximum revisions possible to cover entire syllabus. Further, refer PM for case based questions tested in exams. (refer one author’s book only)Group II5. Cost (AMA) - I referred my class notes (Alok Chakraborty Sir) and sums along with PM. Solved last 2 attempts Ques Papers, RTP.6. ISCA - Stick to ICAI’s SM and PM only. Capitalize on the MCQs. In addition, I prepared flash cards to memorize the never ending points like these-7. Direct Tax - I considered DT the third group of the course.I picked up the Summary module of VG sir and annotated it i.e. writing the summary of provisions in a piece of paper or sticky notes and attaching it with the main provisions in the summary module (doing this, I had only one book to study from and not 4–5 modules and I was able to go through the provisions quickly instead of reading the entire text a day before exams). Annotations look like this for those who don’t know.Practice sums as you give a first reading of the course and make sure to take note of adjustments and special provisions and not the entire sums. For PGBP especially, solve a full fledged sum (1 sum every 2 days) after you have finished reading the provisions. This way you will solve around 30 to 40 sums (you will have total control over at least 14 to 20 marks) and save yourself significant time a day before exams.8. Indirect Tax - Followed same strategy of annotating the provisions as in DT. Solve questions from modules issued by ICAI with first and subsequent readings. Finally, a SUMMARY BOOKLET which i prepared and it worked wonders for me (includes Audit, IDT, Case Laws of DT, Imp questions etc.)Note-MCQs from ICAI materials onlySolve RTPs (3 attempts)Appear for mock tests (>1)Try and attempt 100 marks paper to cross the AGGREGATE threshold. (I flunked in Nov 2018 falling short of aggregate)Lastly, relax with F.R.I.E.N.D.S and not with your friends.Suggestions welcomed. All the very best :)

Is Brandon Sanderson as brilliant/revolutionary as people say?

As a person who read almost all of his books, and many many other fantasy books, I think I have some experience to make the comparisons. Also, this being said, I follow Mr. Sanderson very closely. In the age of internet, blogs, twitter updates, it becomes very frustrating for authors to keep the restless public in check. Look at what is happening with George R.R. Martin’s books. People keep pestering him and he keeps on promising stuff and doesn’t deliver. It is a huge additional pressure for authors. For example, Scott Lynch, author of a great series Gentlemen Bastards, suffers from chronic depression, and all these fans that keep nagging him about updates for the next book just make him more anxious and become the reason of the book’s postponement.Mr. Sanderson on the other hand is a time management freak. He is almost a superhuman when it comes to management of his time. Sometimes I think he invented some kind of time bubble (Wax and Wayne). There is no other plausible explanation of how he can keep up with everything. Just to make sure you understand the extend I will explain. He writes books. Many books. Many different series, most of them are connected on a higher level. He promises the date, he releases. And it is not some ridiculous 5–10 years wait, it is usually 1–2 years, which he actually sets before he starts writing. Not only he releases the books he promises, he releases the books that he didn’t even mention, like Secret History. It is his way to thank his fans.He writes between signing sessions, he writes during flights, he might be even writing during his sleep. And the quality is never below excellent. Besides writing books he is constantly in touch with his fans. He has a website and his blog, he is active on social media. He is even active in reddit and did many AMAs. He even writes updates on updates. He has his own podcast about writing fantasy, named Writing Excuses. When he finishes a book, he writes annotations to each chapter of that book. You can find them on his website. He also teaches a class in university about writing fantasy books. He even replies to emails. He collaborates with different authors for story compilations, he does these huge signing sessions, after which he answers many many questions of the readers. He writes stories for video games, and books based on video games. He even finished the colossal Wheel of Time series by Jordan. And by finishing I mean, 3 huge books. He also finds time to read many many books by other authors. Last of his projects was a graphic novel, which is a new medium for him. He also writes in different genres like, YA novels, sci-fy, epic fantasy, short stories.Beside all these, he is a good husband, and a friend. He always mentions his family and friends during interviews and in Acknowledgment parts of the book. He even names some of his heroes after his friends. He even named on character after a little girl who won some kind of competition. I am sorry I forgot the story, but it is the spinoff of Elantris book, and as always you can find the info on his website.Yes I am a fan, but more a fan of his persona. I bow low before Mr. Sanderson because of his extraordinary ways, and how he always manages to be just a simple human being.
