For me, it's because in middle school I learned to tell the difference between the silly gossip that was circulating about teachers and instead to form my opinions based on their actual competency.I have applied this to my evaluations of my doctors, baristas, cobblers, staff, and so on.The principle appears to me equally applicable to my public servants.

I’m confused because you actually think they were asked to leave, when after a thorough 2 minute evaluation, the “Barista” determined they were not ordering and made the prompt decision to call 911? And NOT because they were black? If this is indeed the case then I am going to surrender to the proper authorities, better yet I’ll call 911 on myself and confess to the following:A steady pattern of hoarding Wifi.Taking extra sweetners and stockpiling them in my car.On perhaps a few occasions I parked over the lines.I have repeatedly and without remorse used the bathrooms and quickly escaped without ordering.Openly and blatantly sat at their tables for as much as 2 hours on my laptop, a few times without even having the decency to order a cup of coffee, let alone a refill.Have read their newspapers with blatant disregard and absolutely no intent on purchasing them.Often threw out the names of several of their fancy drinks while placing an order but instead practiced deception because I had no intent on buying these $12.00 drinks and instead ordered plain coffee as if it was out of frustration and confusion.There are many other atrocities I’ve committed that can legally be thrown into what could probably qualify as a RICO Indictment.The CEO of Starbucks has announced that all of their stores nationwide are closing for an afternoon to address this issue and put new policy in place to prevent any repeat. This is a serious and desperate reaction that was done immediately to a serious and desperate situation. He knows the severity of this situation and it wasn’t because they were nonpaying customers. It was because they were black and their basic rights that are given to everyone else were blatantly and without thought, remorse or even common sense, violated.Lastly, if you look up the story and creation of Starbucks, the business plan and model is based on the environment that they were denied. It would be like Barnes & Noble doing this because they told the police that 2 men walked in (for 2 minutes no less) and didn’t buy a book.
