How can the Chinese build things so much faster than other countries?

Umm… Faster? Well, it’s hit and miss. The day I have come to know about construction, I banged my head against the wall and learned the hard way that:“No such thing as fast and good, and yet, expecting a perfect construction in this world.”Every construction needs to follow critical paths, know the strength of materials, besides safety guidelines, testing, testing, and testing…There is a saying- A shortcut to hell!’Here they are!Shanghai building collapses; 9 held in investigationOne would expect a building collapse to be disastrous for home prices. But in Shenzhen prices have zoomed up instead. How would the government fund "Medicare for all"?

Let me give you a personal-scale answer to this. Today is Sunday, November 4. Until Friday, I worked for Dell. It’s a fine company, and I left of my own accord. I was paid well for the work I did there. Out of each paycheck, I paid 3.24% of my gross income for health, dental, and vision insurance. My employer paid significantly more than that as their contribution to the cost, but I don’t see those numbers.I’m taking a week off before starting a new job at Pure Software, which I’m quite looking forward to. And they have very similar benefits, so starting the 12th I’ll have a good insurance package again. But there’s a catch. I have no medical insurance this week. So I’m really hoping that I don’t get hit by a car while on my way to vote on Tuesday, or that I don’t have a heart attack on Thursday. Fortunately, there’s a loophole in that I can retroactively invoke COBRA and pay the entire amount of a month’s premium for insurance should I need it next week. But it’s a bother.Would I pay 3% of my gross pay (perhaps with an employer contribution as well) for a universal system that would a) cover me during the period I’m between jobs and b) not come with a similar but slightly different set of rules and lists of who’s “in network” because the insurer at my new job isn’t the same as the one at my old job? Oh, and c) where I wouldn’t be starting over on my deductible for the year for the last 6 weeks? In. A. Freaking. Heartbeat. And my estimation is that a very decent universal plan could be operated for significantly less than that 3%. But that’s how I think government would fund it: by a payroll tax that would be less than what a lot of us are already paying for health insurance.
