Day Move Out Notice: Fill & Download for Free

My son was a bit of a problem teenager. Barely made it out of high school and was lazy. He fought with his dad constantly. Our household was a very stressful place. When school was over he would sleep most of the day, then deliver pizzas for a few hours, party at night and sneak girls into his room. He completely trashed his room. This was happening across the hall from my 14 year old daughter. I knew he had to go and my husband couldn’t bring himself to do it.I checked with the local police department on the legalities of kicking him out. In Washington state where we were living at the time I was told that if he’s not paying rent you can kick him out at any time with no notice. They also offered to be there while I told him in case I needed help but I declined.So the day came and I opened the door to his room and said you need to be out within 30 days. Anything that is left in your room after the 30 days will be taken to Salvation Army. I explained to him that I don’t care how many girls he wants to f@@k or what drugs he wants to do but he wasn’t free to do it in my house across the hall from my daughter. I told him he would be much happier as he would be free to do what he wanted and not have to deal with our rules.I thought he was going to give me a bunch of grief but instead he said OK. He moved out within two weeks, got himself a decent job and started to turn his life around. A few years later he told me that was the best thing I ever did.UPDATE: Wow! Because you said “things are acrimonious” I think you should proceed carefully. You may be in a weak negotiating position, if you are in a state (like mine - Oregon) that provides for termination by tenant with 30 day notice. I would need to know the exact words you used in your notice to give you any advice on this (and I am not offering to give free legal advice if you fill in the details). Depending on what you said in your notice and the law of your area, you might only owe a pro-rated day’s rent and be good to go. Or it might be to your advantage to give a new 30-days notice that specifies the exact date of move-out/surrender and prorate rent to the new move-out date. If you have a friend who is a lawyer, invite them out for a tasty beverage of the lawyer’s choice at the tasty beverage dispenser of their choice and tell them you need to ask them a simple landlord tenant question. In my experience a lawyer rarely turns down a tasty beverage, be it coffee, herbal tea, slurpee, or potent potable.

While moving out of a beautiful house built next to a cemetery the HOA hit us with a violation for having the U-haul truck backed up to the garage. The picture included my ex loading boxes into the truck. The notice and picture showed up 30 days after we moved via forwarding order. My response was sent via air mail. A picture of my middle finger with the words “Bite Me” in big bold letters. Never again will I live anywhere that has an HOA!
