The MBA degree doesn’t really give you any skills or knowledge that you cannot pick up from books, late fines at the library, unpaid internships, or advanced classes at the undergraduate level, or open source courses many of which are free.What it is supposed to give you is access - to networks, a named degree to hang on your wall and put on your resume, and hopefully connections that will last you a lifetime.In essence it is an “insurance” so that in the future if you are ever unemployed or underemployed you can “tap into your network” and get a great job again.Things don’t work this way unfortunately.For example, if you are a WASP (white Anglo-Saxon Protestant) who attends an Ivy-League university such as Harvard or Yale your experience will be very different from that of one of your classmates who might be a first generation college graduate or an immigrant.WASPs are considered the “blue-bloods” of “America”. If you attend Harvard or Cornell, there is a good chance you are a legacy which means that not only your father but your great grandparents also attended Harvard. There might be buildings at the university named after you. Your life is made because grades don’t matter, your family name will get you any job you want and you have nothing to really worry about other than which hot girl/guy you want to date next or which secret society you should join.Things are different for the rest of us. As immigrants in the “America” first scenario every step - from applying to b-school to getting an internship to securing a full-time job to getting a US visa are all going to be challenges of nightmarish proportions.Challenges are slightly easier if you have a US citizenship or permanent residency (green card).I recommend a degree that gets you a longer OPT/CPT (a STEM degree). Generally the fees are going to be lower, and you have a longer buffer time to secure an adequate job. Things won’t be a cakewalk but at least they will be easier than the MBA experience.An MS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering is a good option, as is a degree in Business or Data Analytics if your purpose is to secure a high paying job at the end of your studies.A PhD is also a good option because most PhDs are funded - but ensure you are pursuing a doctorate degree for the right reasons- to gain mastery in your field (not from an immigration perspective).

Not matter the university, or the student income, foreign students work rights are set by the US government. Read about CPT/OPT rules and consult the university office for international students. They will have an administrator (DSO) designated to approve work under the rules.Practical Training

During a 1-day inpatient stay, participants received a randomized sequence of kratom and placebo decoctions matched for taste and appearance. Pain tolerance was measured objectively in a cold pressor task (CPT) as time (seconds) between the pain onset and the hand withdrawal from the ice bath. Health status, vital signs, objective, and subjective indicators of withdrawal symptoms, self-reported data on lifetime kratom use patterns, and assessments of blinding procedures were also evaluated.Conclusions:Kratom decoction demonstrated a substantial and statistically significant increase in pain tolerance.
