How was your US visa interview experience?

Appearing for an American Visa Interview is a nightmare for many. In this answer I would detail my US Visa Interview Experience at the US Embassy in Doha, Qatar.Visa Category: Business (B1)Nationality/Passport: IndiaResident of Qatar, working as an Engineer. My scope of work is into Healthcare Robotics.I received my letter of invitation on 15th of July evening from our business associate in Los Angeles. The same evening itself I filled my DS-160 form and got my DS-160 Submission Confirmation. I began collecting my documents and preparing them for the next two days and on 17th July I opened their appointment portal to fetch a slot for my interview and fortunately the rush in US Embassy was a bit less so I got my appointment for 19th of July. This quick turnaround time may come as a big surprise for people living in India as I have seen the long lines outside Mumbai Consulate.19th of July finally arrived and my appointment was scheduled for 09.45am. I was a bit nervous but my preparation was exhaustive as I had a strong itinerary and papers to prove my application. I arrived a bit early at the embassy, but they did let me in. They verified my documents and my fingerprints were captured and subsequent to that I was asked to move ahead to a big hall were around 100 people were sitting and waiting for their number to be called. I could see 3 Counters where VOs where calling in applicants and were interviewing them. I had to wait almost for an hour and by 10.30 am I could see my number being called on the display system. I rush ahead to the counter and the conversation starts as following:VO (A young American guy in his early 30s) : Hi, Can I have your passport please?Me: Good Morning! Sure (Hands over my Passport)VO: What is the purpose of your travelMe: I go business meetings in America with our associateVO: Okay, Which place you would be going to?Me: Los AngelesVO: Can I have the letter from your employer?Me: Hands over the letter, in the meantime VO keeps typingVO: Can you describe more about your meetings over there?Me: I got a business review with our associate over there and later on I need to be at UCLA to see their Robotic System in Action. I also need to sit with them for clinical paper reviews.VO: Who exactly you will be meeting there?Me: I will be meeting their Commercial Head and Clinical Support TeamVO: Since how long you are here?Me: 07 monthsVO: Why your employer wants to send you?Me: Since I spearhead the robotics business in my organisation, they find my presence to bring more value proposition for our growth in business.VO: Where were you employed before this?Me: In IndiaVO: Which other countries you have been to?Me: I have been to UAE & Oman twice for business and around two months back I had been to Sweden and Denmark for business meetings.VO: Have you been to the Netherlands?Me: No! In Qatar, Netherlands is responsible for handling visa applications for Sweden and Denmark and that is why you can see a visa stamp in my passport from the Embassy of Netherlands in Doha.VO: Were you working with the same employer in India?Me: No, I was working with another employer but I was into the same business function of healthcare robotics.VO: What kind of business is operated by your employer?Me: Medical Devices and Pharmaceutical Distribution & Supply to all healthcare institutions in Qatar and I look after New Innovation & Robotics Division in this.VO: Can I have your bank statement?Me: Yes, and hands over the statement ( He doesn't even takes a look on my statement)VO: Are you married?Me: Not yet, I am singleAfter all these questions, he keeps typing in his system for a while and I keep looking at him with confidence. A few moments later:VO: Okay! Everything sounds great, Your visa has been approved for 10 years with multiple entry. You can collect your passport from ARAMEX Office once you receive an email.Me: Thank you so much & God Bless these United States of America!I leave the counter with a big smile and rush back to office for work. The only tip I got to give is to be confident while answering, be honest and prepare your application with maximum details. You got one goal and this is to convince him that you would return back to your country of Residence and wont be a national threat to America.Good Luck!

What will be the total cost if I want to study for an MS in the USA?

Below are the cost details right from the very beginning to complete an MS in the USA:Also please go to the end of the answer to find some valuable links to help you throughout your journey! This part covers the costs that you incur before going to the US while preparing to go to the US -EXAMINATIONS:The first and foremost step is to appear for two examinations: GRE and TOEFL/IELTS. Now, depending upon the university you can either opt for TOEFL or IELTS as different universities have different requirements and methods of evaluation. For the US, I would highly recommend going for TOEFL as for most universities you would find they only accept TOEFL and not IELTS and this is true for the majority of the top universities.GRE: $205 TOEFL: $180 IELTS: ₹13,500 Coaching + Consulting: ₹30,000CONSULTING CHARGES:Consultancies will help you right from shortlisting universities to getting a visa, you have to decide whether you need one or not. I would recommend going for one as some of the steps are a bit complex such as shortlisting universities, funding, filling DS-160 form, etc. The reason why I mentioned coaching and consulting charges together is that they offer both services together. These consultancies conduct education fairs where they invite people from various universities for on-spot admissions, promotions, etc. The best part is they give out promotional discounts if you go to their fairs and register under them on the spot. (I saved 20% when registered under a consultancy during their education fair)APPLICATION COSTS:The cost of GRE and TOEFL includes reporting scores to four universities. If you want to report them to some additional universities it costs you $27 (GRE) and $20 (TOEFL). Let us say you want to apply to six universities and you already reported scores to four universities during your exams. So, the additional cost will be $54 + $40 = $94.Plus, there are application fees for each university which range from $50 to $125. If we take an average of $70 and you apply to six universities, your cost of application would be $420. Also, I did not apply to two of those four universities that I reported my GRE and TOEFL scores to, so I had to send my scores to two new universities which cost me another $94. Keep this in mind!Average Cost of Applying to six universities: $600FUNDING:If you are someone who requires a loan, then you might be paying some processing fees for that. Government banks usually don't charge high processing fees, maybe around ₹5,000–₹10,000, while NBFCs charge a hefty amount, approximately ₹30,000–₹45,000, depending upon your loan amount.VISA, SEVIS FEE, AND I-20:Once you finalize a university, you have to get an I-20 from the university which will cost you another $20-$40 in shipping. Upon getting an I-20, you will look to pay your SEVIS fee and book a Visa slot.SEVIS FEE: $200 VISA APPOINTMENT: $160DEPOSITS:To secure your admission, universities ask for some amount to be deposited to confirm your seat which will range from $150-$500 (from what I have come across; mine was $150). Other than this, when you finalize a university, you also want to finalize a place to stay and for that, you will have to pay the deposit to the landlord. However, this is subject to multiple factors such as location, proximity to university, affordability, comfort, the standard of living, etc. so I will not include house deposits in the total amount. (mine was $300)FLIGHTS:You already know that if you book early you get some really good and cheap flights. I would advise completing all the procedures by May itself so that you can book your flight by the end of May or beginning of June for flights in early or mid-August. Otherwise, later you get your visa, later you book your flight, higher the chances of booking an expensive flight. On average, it would cost you around ₹60,000. Plus major airlines such as Qatar, Emirates, and Etihad offer student privilege and allow carrying three check-in bags each of 23kgs instead of two, so please check with them.COST OF THINGS TO CARRY:You are going to buy so many things like clothes, bags, utensils, food, etc and that will cost you another ₹40,000–₹60,000. I would suggest finding roommates before you go to the US and distribute some items such as utensils. This will not only save you money but space as well.MISCELLANEOUS:Now, there are many small expenses such as sending documents to universities which will cost you approximately ₹1000 per university, getting transcripts from your university, vaccinations, etc. I am assuming an average amount of ₹15,000.TOTAL COST IN INDIA (approx.): ₹2,90,000This part covers the cost you incur after reaching the US -TUITION AND FEES:Tuition and fees are the biggest costs that you incur while doing the MS. Of course, these costs vary from university to university and other factors such as scholarships, fellowships, assistantships, time to complete the MS, etc. On average, for a 2 year MS, it costs approximately $45,000. However, you can save a lot of money by completing it in 1.5 years. I am saving around $15,000 by completing my masters in 1.5 years rather than 2 years.COST OF LIVING:Cost of living varies from person to person and as I mentioned earlier, on factors such as location, proximity to the university, standard of living, number of roommates, etc. It ranges from $500-$1200 a month. Students spend on average around $700 a month. Students usually work part-time on campus and earn enough to fulfill their cost of living.Useful Links:Mohit Bhagchandani's answer to What is the first step of preparing for the GRE?Mohit Bhagchandani's answer to What is the best way to prepare for the GRE in 45 days to score above 315?Mohit Bhagchandani's answer to How do I score 320+ in GRE with only 2 weeks to prepare?Mohit Bhagchandani's answer to Which are the best books or learning resources to prepare for the GRE?Mohit Bhagchandani's answer to How can I pass the TOEFL exam with a high grade?Mohit Bhagchandani's answer to What are the universities that I can apply to for an MS in CS in the US?Hope this helps! Feedbacks from Our Clients

As a sales rep for a commercial product line who's end user are contractors, CocoDoc is a necessity as I rely on the contractor to sign and approve their CAD drawings as quick as possible in order to close a sale. In the construction industry, many contractors are either in the field and can't sign our PDF documents on site or are not technologically or administratively savvy enough to sign the pdfs we send them. The service CocoDoc provides makes it easy for my potential customers to quickly sign and approve the layouts we send them without having to wait for them to find the time to print out, sign, scan and email back which in turn greatly helps me to close the sale.
