Open an account on www.ustraveldocs.com.5. Pay the Visa fees. (This can be done in many ways. The best way is to pay through Citibank or Axis bank branches)6. Schedule appointments for Biometrics at the VAC ( Visa Application Centre) and for the Visa interview at the consulate. (NOTE: These are two seperate appointments. Both are mandatory.)7. Go for Biometrics on the scheduled date and time.8. Go for the Visa Interview on the scheduled date. (Be prepared for a long wait at the consulate.)9. Assuming that your visa is approved, collect your passport, with the visa sticker from the VAC, once the consulate notifies you about it. (The Visa Officer will keep your passport with him after the interview, if your visa is approved.)NOTE:- Generally, the VAC and the Consulate are two different places. Make sure you know where exactly to go, to avoid last minute hassle.- NEVER EVER learn your Visa Interview answers by-heart. The Visa Officer will see right through you in an instant. Have a relaxed interview. Anxiety and rote learned answers just increase the probability of a rejected visa.-Make sure that the name on your passport and that on your DS-160 is EXACTLY THE SAME.- Whenever you fill your DS-160, take the security question very seriously. Do not type some random answer to it and then forget about it. Make sure you remember the answer to the security question and/or write it down in a safe place.
