The Guest speaker took away the phones of more than 100 students without a single protest.So this happened yesterday, It was our orientation for the first day of college in XIC, Mumbai.The hall was filled with at least 150 students belonging to different courses.A guest speaker who was the head of department of Neuroscience had to deliver a speech.The chance of grabbing attention of everyone was slim as people were busy looking at their phone screens.So this is what he did:Before starting his speech, he said he was going to conduct a fun activity to make his speech interesting.He asked everyone to put up their hands and wave their phones in the air.Everyone did.Then he asked every person to exchange his/her phone with a person sitting atleast 4–5 seats away.Everyone did.Now no one had their own phone and everyone had someone else's phone.We all were anticipating an interesting game.The speaker then continued with his speech and gave us a nice 20-minute speech.Everyone was listening attentively because they had nothing to fidget with. They didn't have their own phone with them so now everyone was extremely less distracted.We were still hopeful of the pending game. But the speaker finished his speech, said thank you, and finished with the question, “How did you feel when your biggest distraction was taken away from you? You may now exchange your phones back.”That's when we knew we were brilliantly scammed by the speaker so that we would give our full attention to him.Genius isn't it?Have A Beautiful Day!Edit:-A lot of people are asking for the speaker’s name. He is Doctor Father Roy Pereira. He heads the department of Chemistry and Neurosciences at St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai.

My Russian culture class had an American guest speaker come in whose expertise was in foreign law and politics. He had given a series of presentations in Russian at the Saint Petersburg State University in the seventies on business law, and he recounted interacting with several professors and students who were very gracious, warm and enthusiastic.One of these professors introduced to him a young Vladimir Putin, who had attended every one of his lectures. Of Putin, our guest said that while Putin was remarkably bright and inquisitive, he had the coldest and most serious look of any of the students he had met during that time. To our guest, it was no surprise that Putin would become the powerful politician that he is today.
