They learn to simply wait out the punishment until Mom or Dad get distracted again by whatever concerns them next and the socks will continue to get dropped on the floor.The technique that worked best in my house was learned the last time I got a parking ticket.I’m assuming if your child has a laptop and iPad, she’s is also getting an allowance of some sort. In kid-world, money “rules” they same way as in the adult World. ***We don’t like paying for mistakes with cash.***So, one day I designed a “Parking” ticket template for household chores. They included a check box and $$$ penalty for each infraction. These tickets could be issued to “anyone” in the house including Mom and Dad!When a chore wasn’t done, anyone could write a ticket, check the appropriate box and stick it on the fridge door. Payment had to be made by the accused the next day, no exceptions. The dramatic yelling and confiscation of “toys” came to an end immediately.After about 2 weeks of issuing tickets and collecting fines, the chores began getting done without my intervention. Relief at last!Give it a try. It might work for you as well. Good luck!Addendum :An issue that came up during my experiment was dealing with legitimate reasons for not doing chores. The solution was to have a trial, like in the courts.The accused still had to pay the fine, but only had a return if the reason was in fact legitimate. Mom and dad could also claim sovereign immunity, but only sparingly. The kids could not claim immunity. Only valid reasons would work .
