You have to make sure you DO NOT apply for a US Passport.That said, before applying give a thought to the following - Will you ever travel back to US with your baby? If so there are additional issues you will have because any one born in US is automatically a US Citizen. This means that you cannot show your baby’s Indian Passport at US Immigration or get a US Visitor Visa for your baby. When you apply for a Visa at the US Consulate and submit a US born Birth Certificate, they will reject it asking you to apply for a US Passport. Only exception is if you are an Indian Diplomat posted in US and I am sure if you were one you will not be asking this question.
