PDF Editor FAQ

Have you ever had to harden your heart against your own child? For what reason and what was the outcome?

Yes — with my second son who was born with autism. He received the formal diagnosis of PDD-NOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder — not otherwise specified) after the evaluation was completed a few months after turning two. Back then, the evaluation was not offered and was not made available until 24 months of age, even though I wanted it done at age one.He received in-home speech and occupational therapy until he turned 3. At age 3, he was admitted to an “autism” preschool class within the public school system. The program director and teacher were confident and encouraging. They allowed my son to visit the classroom before his first day. They informed me that he would be gradually weaned into the full (5 hour) day.The teacher instructed me on exactly what to do the first day, knowing that my son had been with me virtually 24/7 from the time he was born. (He even had to sit on my lap while I used the bathroom.) His teacher told me that I could stay in the room with him for 5 minutes, then I was to tell him good-bye and that I would be back to get him when school was “all done”, give him a kiss and walk out of the room without looking back.I did as I had been instructed, but that was one of the hardest things I had had to do with my autistic son up to that point. As the door shut behind me, I could hear him screaming. Tears filled my eyes, as I hurried down the hallway and out of the building. Those were 3 of the longest hours of my life — trying to hold my emotions in check and not sob like a big baby. When it was time to pick him up, I walked to the classroom and found it empty. They were in the gymnasium, I was told. I found the gymnasium and peeked in through the glass panels on the doors. All the children and the teacher and teacher aides were standing in a circle, holding the handles on the edges of a large, multi-colored 12 foot parachute and playing the “mushroom” game. One teacher’s aide was helping my son and he was hopping and laughing the whole time. The verbal children were saying “up” and “down” in unison with the teachers, as the parachute billowed upwards, then collapsed downwards with their hand movements. My son’s teacher told me that he cried for about 10 minutes after I left, then stopped and had a wonderful morning. The next day, he cried for only a minute or so. On the third morning, the minute we entered the school building, he broke free of my grip and ran to his classroom, smiling. By the end of the summer, he was learning how to sing. This was just the beginning in the education of my son, and it was simply amazing!

What should I do if my boss gives me a "take it or resign" ultimatum 20% less than my current salary?

I have actually been in this position. I was furious. No reduction in responsibilities. He didn't even offer take less or resign really. He just said, “I've reduced your salary”. The agreement to start with was $30 an hour, for every hour I worked, but no overtime rates. As I was the Operations Manager I was fine with that. After 3 months, I'd made a lot of improvements, reduced overtime costs, improved morale. He still required me to be the only one with the keys and codes to the buildings. This meant 6 days a week I had to be there at 6am to open up for truck drivers. And had to be there until the pickers had finished. My very first day I started at 6am. I finished at 11pm. Needed to be there at 6am on Tuesday. I already knew right then that, first of all the owner was dodgy and breaking many laws, second, that there was a lot of changes to be made, because 18 hour days, living 40 minutes away, I was not surviving this. When he reduced the hourly rate to $25 an hour. I was averaging 12 hour days. I'd already started keeping my eye out for other roles. Now I was angry, so I started applying for anything that I could within my range. Did interviews and 4 weeks later I was giving my 2 weeks notice. He asked for 4 weeks. I had that flexibility. At the 2 weeks mark, my replacement started at 6am on a Monday. At 2pm he asked me roughly what time we'd finished up. I burst out laughing. Monday's where always the busiest day. So often I'd do a bit more than 12 hours. With the distraction of training my replacement, might take a bit longer. 9pm that day. The look on his face made me laugh. It was the same look I must have had my first day.By Wednesday he asked me how I'd lasted as long as I had. This guy had over 20 years experience in warehousing and operations. Used to do 6 to 12 month contracts setting up warehouse operations for companies. He knew his shit. On Thursday the owner said I could finish up today, he'd pay me for the remainder of my notice. I smiled, no problem with me. He thought I was running him down to my replacement. I had no need to.A year later, I got an email from the owner. Apologising to me. Which I appreciated, because the experience had given me some self doubt about my abilities. He had hired one of his friends to do my old position, and then had to hire two other guys as his 2IC's.As the Operations Manager, I had no warehouse manager, or 2IC.So, start looking for another job. Delay accepting the 20% reduction as long as you can. If you can. I don't know where you are, but I'm pretty sure it'd be illegal to do this to you without good reason and a history to back the action up. But it's the age old thing, when you take out legal action against an employer, you won't be working there anymore. Lol.If you accept it and stay. You've set a precedent. He will do more. If not pay cuts, something else.**wow, nearly 3k upvotes!? My highest ever, thanks guys**

Is Chhatrapati Shivaji only a regional hero or a national icon in India?

He is neither.Let’s find out for ourselves why.At the age of 12, when Shivaji Maharaj returned to Pune from Bangalore after completing his formal education, he was given a career goal, a mission to be accomplished during his lifetime. It was given to him by his parents Rajmata Jijausaheb and Shahajiraje. Let’s have a look at what it says.प्रतिपच्चंद्रलेखेव वर्धिष्णुर्विश्ववंदिता शाहसुनोः शिवस्यैषा मुद्रा भद्राय राजतेMeaning- The glory of this Mudra of Shahaji’s son Shivaji (Maharaj ) will grow like the first day moon .It will be worshiped by the universe & it will shine only for well being of people.Let’s try to decipher the meaning in detail. There are 3 main conditions which come up after reading this mission.1. The glory will grow like the first day moon.It means that the self-rule that you are striving for will have to start from zero or almost negligible resources (as the first day moon is). You will not just build upon your father’s expenses.2. It will be worshiped by the universe. You just don’t have to be worshiped or admired by a small region, a small country, a small continent, a small planet or even a small galaxy. You must be admired by the universe.3. For the well being of the people. You have built your rule from scratch, the universe will admire you, but who will this rule belong to. Will it belong to Shivaji himself, or to Shahji or to Jijausaheb? No, it will belong to the people, to the common citizens irrespective of race, colour, gender, caste and religion. This mission is enshrined in the Rajmudra (seal) of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, so that whenever Shivaji Maharaj is busy working for the people he must remember his mission and constantly work towards it.So, we must ask ourselves that can a person who constantly worked for universal betterment and universal admiration only be a regional hero or a national icon? The Rajmudra of Chhtrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

We've used the UI for some time, but have really found the integration useful. It's allowed our software to automate the signing of leases and other legal documents.
