PDF Editor FAQ

What things did you have trouble accepting in life as you grew up?

Limitations. On my time. My health. My waking hours. My ability to fix the people and the world around me.When you are a newly hatched baby chick, everything seems possible. There are no limitations. Then, over the years, slowly, you get to meet them one by one.

What’s more fun, showering with your partner or sleeping with them?

Honestly, I think both of them are the opposite of fun. I think they both really suck. Showering (as opposed to having sex in a shower) is a job. I am trying to accomplish a task and/or using the hot water to relax my sore muscles. Very few shower spaces are intended to accommodate 2 bodies, let alone 2 bodies trying to *do stuff*. One of us either the blocks the water or sprays it on the other, there isn't room for arms akimbo while washing hair or wide stances while shaving legs, or reaching for various products. And it's *dangerous*. Showers are basically a death trap waiting to happen and with all the advances in textiles in the last hundred years, I have no idea why we're still making these upright coffins with slick floors intended to stand on while *wet* with running water. We have to *add* things to make showers safer for use, but it's not just standard to have slip resistant surfaces or safety bars that are sturdy yet soft so you don't concuss yourself when you knock your head on one on the way down. And co-sleeping! What a fucking scam that shit is! I like cuddling as much as anyone (Physical Touch is one of my Love Languages) but *sleeping* is not for cuddling. The presence of other people is TERRIBLE for good sleep health in general and even worse for mine in particular thanks to several sleep disorders, a compulsive light sleeping habit thanks to some trauma as a kid, and a bad back that requires me to sleep sitting up.I've written about what a terrible idea co-sleeping is before. I really wish separate sleep spaces was more normalized in my culture. I think a lot of people would find their waking health issues much improved for having better sleep hygiene and a lot of relationships would be much improved for having the mental and physical health of the participants improved for getting better quality sleep.

Can you lose weight by walking and not dieting?

Ever heard about Joe “The Walking Machine?”Well, he is the guy who lost 124 pounds (56 kg) by walking. He actually wrote an article on my website. In short, here is what he said:I started to gain more weight when I was out of School. My self-image was not so good at this point. I began to smoke cigarettes as a form of self-medication. I also began to drink alcohol to help with the anxiety I felt inside. At this point, I was now well over 300 lbs (149kg).I was put on four medications just for my diabetes and high cholesterol!THIS WAS MY WAKE UP CALL!I quit smoking and drinking immediately. I got a gym membership and started walking on a treadmill. I walked at 1 MPH for 20 minutes. That’s all I could walk without losing my breath. I would do this three to four times a week.I had to make changes to my food intake. I started to cut out caffeine, candy, and all beverages. I introduced more protein and fiber in my diet.As months went by I was feeling better about myself and was losing weight. My walking became more frequent. I got off the treadmill and began taking regular walks around the neighborhood. I found that the more I walked the better I felt inside. In 2018 my longest walk was 83 kilometers (in 18 hours). I now have walked a total of 18,736 kilometers!I am very proud of all of my success. I am at a comfortable 205 lbs (93kg).As amazing as Joe's story is, walking alone wasn’t enough to lose weight for Joe. He had to tweak his diet. He had to put himself into a calorie deficit. But walking was the thing that got it all started. It was the catalyst. It created that virtuous cycle where exercise improves eating and eating improves exercise. What I want you to take from this is that walking can be a great start for managing your nutrition because nutrition is going to be the ultimate determinant of whether you lose weight or not.If you want to have an easier and more enjoyable time achieving your health & fitness goals, get in touch with me via profile.
