There is a cure. Well, it´s not perfect. But it stops the vertigo attacks completely.You just inject gentamicin through the tympanic membrane into the middle ear in surface anaesthesia. Then the patient lies on the other side for an hour. After 2 (sometimes 3) sessions the patient is cured. It´s that simple.I know studies say it works only in about 80% - but I have performed this for about 50 patients and have not met a single one whom the therapy didn´t help. I guess (and I know from an institution where I have worked before) that some just don´t do the procedure properly. Some try to put in a grommet first so they don´t need anaesthesia for the second procedure (most of the medication does not reach its destination).
