Denmark was also supposed to get Swedish Pomerania, but Norway declared independence rather than join Sweden, and eventually Prussia negotiated a treaty between basically all of Scandinavia that involved lots of transfers of land and money to make everyone happy.So, since the Napoleonic Wars, Greenland has been a part of Denmark. And it was a part of Denmark-Norway for 400 years before that.It is reasonable for Denmark to own Greenland because it has been a part of Denmark for 640 years. It is absurd for the US to attempt to buy it because in these enlightened times we are supposed to care about democracy and self-rule. Anyone remember Kosovo? We are not supposed to be trading people between countries like the ghouls who participated in the scramble for Africa.
