No. I am not fluent in Kannada.When I first came to Bengaluru, I was already in my late twenties and the age when one picks up a new language easily was past. I was carrying the burden of three languages already. (English, Hindi and Tamil). I picked up whatever I know of Kannada over the years, slowly and steadily. I never learned this language formally, and had no opportunity to do so.I am now familiar with the language. I can read and write slowly in Kannada. I taught myself to do so. I can understand it when spoken by others. But I cannot speak the language fluently.I cannot carry on an intelligent conversation in Kannada. I can only exchange pleasantries. (hegiddeeree? channagiddene. Oota aayita? etc)I can manage speaking simple sentences and can communicate with the general public, maidservants, auto drivers, shop-keepers, vegetable sellers and know the Kannnada equivalents for all the most common and useful words. I can understand what the Radio announcers and TV anchors say.I can’t read Kannada books and newspapers or magazines but I can read newspaper headlines, signboards, cinema hoardings, bus destination boards etc. I can fill up forms in Kannada (I know the script well) and have not had any difficulty living and surviving in Bengaluru.Though I lived in Bengaluru for many years, my life revolved around my home and the office and I did not mix socially with too many people outside my professional and home environment. At the office, it was always an English speaking environment. At home I spoke in my native Palakkad Tamil dialect and by chance I also lived in neighborhoods that did not have too many Kannada speakers. Besides any Kannada speaking neighbors I had, were well educated and spoke good English and we communicated only in English.Unlike me, my children were born and brought up here in Bengaluru and they and also my wife speak better Kannada than Tamil. My wife is super fluent in Kannada. She worked in Canara Bank before retirement and was exposed to the language all day, all through her career. She also lead a very active social life and had numerous Kannada speaking friends and colleagues with whom she was intimate. My children too learned the language formally in school and spoke the language like the locals before they migrated years ago. Even today they are better in Kannada than in my native language which they can’t speak as well as I can. I hesitate to speak in Kannada when my family is around. They make fun of me. This is a sample of purely philosophical conceptual question demanding inevitably purely philosophical conceptual answers.By other words, the answers can stand only on quotations, definitions, rewriting, repetitions, parroting, simply anything, only not a letter based on personal experience (personal experiential knowledge) of the writers.If we would face the answer seriously and strictly, then we would have to say that neither rebirth nor Moksha are mentioned in Vedas. What does it mean? The attitude towards this fact is an individual issue for everyone.When anybody speaks about rebirth and Moksha, write down or record the several sentences of his/her speech and stop him/her. Then ask him/her to explain in plain language the meanings of every word of those sentences. Everyone word. You will be surprised….To answer the question. Anybody can give an answer using the search function in a computer going through the huge number of Indian scriptures saved on the hard disc to select all possible answers to this question. Of course I can't tell you whether "Quora" has a "bias toward anti-theism", but I (for one) am perfectly open to hearing a solid case for belief in God that is actually "irrefutable". If you can do such a thing, you will have succeeded where generations upon generations of devout theologians have failed.I think it's worth remembering that Christianity did not become the "default religion" of millions of people through a process of rational debate and discussion in which all viewpoints were given a fair hearing. I encourage you to engage, and if, as the hymn would have it, "God works in mysterious ways, his wonders to perform" perhaps you will be divinely inspired in a way that would silence all scoffers.But I guess that remains to be seen, doesn't it?
