PDF Editor FAQ

What is the fastest you wiped that smirk off your manager's face?

Oh, it wasn’t fast…Often my job involves installing or tweaking an ERP, a kind of computer program which, if it’s been set up properly, lets people in a company communicate and extract company-relevant data quite quickly. Someone moves a box from a warehouse to another, not only does this get reflected in warehouse lists but also in accounting books and shopping lists.A few times I’ve had managers who insisted that I was not allowed to do something I wanted to do, generally things such as “verify that every list of articles we have from the different departments is the same (they’re never the same)”; the immense majority learned to let me do those things after the first time I turned out to be right but one was a particular pain in the ass about it. Dude was an enormous jerk, the kind of guy whose motto should be “I’ve been told it’s better to keep your mouth shut but I don’t see the point”.Probably smarter and nicer than that guy.The final time was when we were already about to go live with the Brand! New! ERP! System! we’d implemented for our client. While everybody in the team had several years’ experience, none of them had worked with the Quality parts before; those were my responsibility. When we were preparing the list of steps to follow during Go-Live, I had to insist multiple times on things such as “product-family specifications must exist before articles are created”. He repeatedly said there was no need to include dependencies because “we all know what the dependencies are” “you don’t know the ones with Quality, do include them and you guys, do use the checklist”. “Blah blah blaaaah, ok ok, you’re such a pain, what a crybaby… whatever, we’ll include it…”So. We start Go-Live… I remind everybody to wait until my “go ahead” before they start creating articles, I’m told “yeah yeah”… and after a couple of hours there are multiple outcries. Oh no! It’s full of errors!“Did you guys just try to create the articles?”“YES!!!”“Had I given the go-ahead?”“What?”I brought up the checklist. “Let’s see… articles go after product-line specs. Did you wait for me to say the specs were ready?”“What?”Several other people: “no we didn’t…” Boss and his favorite minion, 2.jerk: “but… what does it matter?”“Nothing, genius, only that every article has given the error ‘specifications not found.’”Guy who loaded articles: “How did you know?!”“Because d’oh! That’s why I insisted on having that dependency, you were supposed to wait!”“But… how do we fix this?”“One, you apologize. Profusely. Two, all of you wait here, no going for a cuppa and if you need to pee you ask for permission, until I say the specs are ready and have been assigned to the articles. Three, you say ‘thank you.’ Four, you. Follow. The damn. Checklist. Is that clear?”“Yes, yes!”“I haven’t heard that apology yet.”“I’m sorry! I’m terribly sorry! I’m really, really sorry! Please fix it!”

What about a gym makes it more desirable than another?

There’s a lot of shitty gyms out there.Which is why I have a checklist of must haves when it comes to a new gym:Cleanliness- Mainly for the locker room. Staph infection is real. On the gym floor I look at the floor to make sure there’s not dirt, standing water or anything else that could indicate the owners don’t care about the place.Weights are put away- Nothing aggravates me more than weights thrown all around. If it takes me longer to find 2 45’s than it does to actually do my set, I’m never coming back.Barbells- Seems obvious but doing heavy dead lifts without a barbell is damn near impossible.Dumbbells up to at least 100lbs- Need weights that allow me to dabble in the deep end of the pool.Gym equipment in good/decent condition- Big safety issue. If cables look frayed or worn out it could be my set they break and cause an injury.Showers- Private stalls preferably. I hit the gym then go to work so I’d like to wash my man parts in the privacy of my own shower stall.Good Environment- I like a warehouse like environment. I went to one in the basement of a building and it felt like I was working out in a dungeon.Newer Equipment- I don’t need brand new but if the machines are older than me then there’s more of a chance of it breaking down.Multiple Benches - Flat and incline benches are always a hot commodity. Always best to have a few of each. This is my basic list I’ve come up with over the years. The pic is the actual gym I go to.

Coworkers: What are some good ways to deal with a lazy co-worker?

evaluate your company structure and see where you and your lazy coworker fit in the organization.Does your work and their work in twine with each other. If no mind your own business, your trail ends here.Where in seniority, credibility, ranking are you two placed. Some people are untouchable; if this is the case your trail ends here. If you’re on similar ranking scaled to your employee and your work intwines or splits from the same source, now you’ve got a legit case. It’s usually best if you have direct contract and just ask indirectly about the workload that isn’t fairly distributed and or if you’re covering their slack by doing your job and covering theirs. This is a big no no, and would end up badly only for you. You will burn out and make mistakes you normally wouldn’t if you had only your share. If it can be solved verbally do so. If not continue observing where their habits or laziness effects your work. Always document your claims but never send your information gathered unless necessary.Once you have a consistent history of this person directly effecting your work and performance and is in line with your postion or below in the company, verbally communicate with your supervisor in a manner of concern.Than plan from here what you want to do. At this point: your supervisor is aware, your coworker is aware but nothing is blown out to the public.I’ll give you a rundown of a series of events that happened to me recently. I’m a warehouse coordinator for NYC ferry working night shifts. The person in the shift behind me is the laziest piece of I’ve ever met. From 2 Pm to 10 Pm he spends 90 percent of the time YouTubing and surfing the internet. When 10 Pm comes he close to nothing to show for it. At times he’ll hand over a packing slip with 5 boxes received in, and other times he’ll leave things unreceived when there are too heavy or too much to receive. 10 o clock he jets home and sometimes informs me of things. All the training he gets goes out the window. During my shift I:Coordinates movement of parts from warehouse to Vessels on dock• Unloads, receives, sorts and put away all products used in the warehouse• Prepare products for shipping purposes• Mange product inventory and adjust any entry that needs to be regulated• Document all actions by handling logs and records and managing information on forms• Conduct physical inventories to determine losses and identify stocks for shipment• Prepare special orders for products not in stock• Manage Coolant tanks, motor oil, and waste oil pick ups• Investigate and report warehouse operational discrepancies• Oversee safe operation and maintenance of forklifts and other equipmentBasically 99 percent of the job covering his ass. I’ve spoken to him and he just brushes me off, “I’m learning, no one tells me”, ext….. just an excuse over more excuses. I’ve informed my managers and they too are aware but can get rid of him in such a short period. So here’s my solution. I created a Gantt chart and schedule inventory checks for him, while coordinating my projects along with him. Since he’s computer illiterate and has little to no warehouse management skills, he’s limited to checking products off locations and quantity. my shift comes I have to double check his work, create a report of what’s checked, and update the database along with all the functions of a warehouse. Second thing I did was create a warehouse checklist for him to complete daily. Since he was so lazy, all he did was barely do some of the work and check off everything. Here’s what he filled out. I’ve smudged personal information for obvious reasosnsneedless the say he was barely doing it the check list and doing a pretty shitty job checking inventory. At the end of the week I’ve had it with his ass. I always offered to train him or explain to him anything he didn’t understand, gave him all the resources to be competent, but it was clear to me this man would continue eating free lunches until no lunches were handed out. He had no drive, and no reason to do any work if I was going to do it all for him. So I wrote the following message to him stapled it to his checklist.Needless to say my manager signed off on it and brought him in for a rude awakening. This man was to complete his own work, cause I work way too hard on the shift after him to be covering for him. That was yesterday. Can’t wait to see how he works now that he’s exposed and under the microscope. Although not surprising I still find YouTube videos opened on his phone facing away from the computer screen and a deleted search history consistently daily when I take my shift. But it’s okay I did all that cause no ones gonna care if I fuck up due to exhaustion and burnout, I also don’t want mine and his performances to be measured being averaged as compared to him it’s 100 to 1 in skill and effort. Why should we both fail at 50 when it’s all his weight I’m pushing along? One thing l learned working for the past 15 years, people will step on you if you let them to. Dont give these lazy assholes a chance and stay strictly busienss when communicating with them.

the software is extremely intuitive and easy to use. i initially signed up for the basic version because it was the cheapest one i could find, yet with unlimited features particularly when it comes to number of documents you can send out with your subscription. i could never imagine paying 3x the amount to have unlimited documents in a competitors product.
