There was a first class fare, and a tourist class fare. Boarding was much more relaxed.Passengers could walk across the tarmac and up the stairs to the aircraft without ever passing through security.The hub and spoke concept wasn’t yet in place. Instead of flying one airline and connecting at a central point, you’d need to stop a few times along the way, unless you were flying between large cities. You might have to interline (use multiple carriers) to get to your destination.If you were a youngster flying on a jet, you were a member of an elite group and could get special attention such as a tour of the cockpit – in flight!The Boeing 707 , 720, and 727 were the standard, commonly-used jets in the 1960s.
