PDF Editor FAQ

What was your first cannabis experience like?

I was against marijuana most of my life. I won’t repeat the story now because it’s all in another answer → Chelsea Bak's answer to What is something you used to strongly believe that you now think you were misguided about? ← but I will say that I was very strongly opposed to this drug. That all changed for good in 2016.I am sick. I’ve been sick since 2011, going from healthy to ill virtually overnight. What started as an acute problem eventually turned into an intense chronic battle with a few illnesses. It took just one to unleash the rest, each day since filled with pain, nausea, fatigue, and much more. My early 20s have been a blur of tests, treatments, surgeries, blood draws, IVs, piccs, hospital stays, and more and there have been many times I’ve felt so hopeless that I just wanted to end it all.The worst part is the pain. Even when everything else is being managed, the pain still finds a way to seep in and cripple me. I’ve been on so many pain meds and am currently enrolled in pain management as it’s the only option, being prescribed literally hundreds of opiates that still aren’t enough. Anyone with chronic pain knows that it’s an impossible dream to be pain free but I’ve tasted that sweet reality when I tried marijuana for the first time.In 2016 I experienced a flare up unlike anything I’ve had before. It resulted in multiple hospital stays just to control the pain and lots of disappointment from doctors being unable to prescribe narcotics much anymore, forcing me into pain management at the ripe old age of 25. I wasn’t sure I’d even survive the wait list to get into the clinic, which finally accepted me as a patient in April 2017, the walls of hopeless agony closing in fast. I felt helpless and desperate and finally a family friend offered up an edible. I was reluctant to try it, especially since it was the first time ever, but I needed something. I’d seen stories of others in complete anguish find relief in just a small amount of marijuana and knowing that fate could await me too was enough to shed every ounce of doubt I’d ever had. I cut up the gummy into applesauce and swallowed a few spoonfuls before laying down in my bed and waited to see what happened. It took a bit, at least an hour passing before I noticed anything. I am used to pills that work in 20 minutes and IV meds that work in seconds so I was feeling anxious that there was no change. I was still in agony and I still wanted to die. I truly felt hopeless knowing that yet another medicine wasn’t helping at all and I began to cry.And then it stopped. The crying, the pain…it all was replaced by a warm feeling. It was like running right into a wall except the wall was made of clouds that took my pain away. I was smiling as I was sprawled out on my bed, my eyes closed as the drug lifted me up and enveloped me. I grabbed my phone to text my dad that it had worked and it took me 20 minutes to type, though it felt like seconds. I forgot what I was even trying to write before I could get it all out and I set my phone down instead of ever finishing. The room was spinning a bit, but not in a bad way, and I curled up under the covers and shut my eyes and drifted off faster than any sleeping drug had ever done. When I woke up, all the effects were gone except my pain was still less than it had been. That wore off over the day but I was able to take more of the edible and had a similar experience that night. My overall experience with using marijuana has been very positive, though it pretty much incapacitates me and I’m unable to function properly. I know that can be fixed overtime as I learn more accurate dosing and also potentially find something without THC at all or a smaller amount. I haven’t gotten total pain relief again like the first few times I’ve tried it but it definitely has helped me a lot. Some days I need the oxycodone as it works better for certain pains, while other times I can use the edible instead.Due to state laws I’m currently unable to use the marijuana because it’s not prescribed by a doctor and I have to take drug tests to get the oxycodone. Ideally I hope to be off the oxy for good someday and just use medicinal marijuana, especially because it helps with my nausea, anxiety, and sleeping too. It’s crazy how many pills I could replace just from a small piece of a plant and I really hope one day that’s my new reality. I’ve definitely gone from the “weed is bad” mentality to understanding and advocating for this life-saving medicine.

When was the last time you did something for the first time?

Last week I made a marinara sauce from scratch. Never done that before.A couple weekends ago I went to my complex’s gym. Never done that before (or since).I’m considering enrolling to a college for a bachelor’s. It would benefit my company and myself. Never done that before.Life is fabulous when you keep doing things you’ve never done before. Keeps you young.

What is the best advice for first-time entrepreneurs?

How Michael Dell revolutionized the computer world with his unique business model? From his childhood, Michael Dell was experimenting with computers. He has business in his blood. When he got a summer job to sell newspaper, he targeted buyers directly and earned $18000. This was great for a schoolboy. Michael parents wanted to him as a doctor, but he had interest in computers. While enrolled in pre-med in 1983, Michael spent his free time repairing and upgrading PC'S, which is a great business from his dorm room. When he was 19 years old, he dropped out university to do startup of computers. In January 1984 Michael set up PC'S Limited company for selling computers. But the question that stuck in his mind that how he will compete with the pre-established companies like IBM, APPLE? These companies have great name recognition and a big network of retailers. At that time, customers came to the retailers to buy computers. They work as a middleman. But Michael had another plan. He cut these middlemen and connected with his buyers directly. He also gave much more discount than other companies. It became known as the "direct selling model". He advertised directly to computer magazines to attract consumers. He gave the opportunity to his customers to assemble their computers to their own. This is different than IBM and Apple (India) the first year, PC'S Limited had sold more than $6 million worth of computers. In 1987, the 22-year-old CEO changed the companies name from PCs Limited to Dell Computer. A year later, Dell hits $160 million. But, critics said that his business model could not be used to attract corporate buyers. Michael proved them wrong. He attracted corporate buyers not only assembling build-to-order Pcs but by also preloading them with all the software they need. Now they are selling PCs to everyone. Then Dell launched its direct-sell website in July 1996. It was the first time people can buy computers online. it was a masterstroke. Within two months it's website launch, Dell was averaging internet sales above $2 million a day. by 1998, it had increased to $5 million. Since then,Dell has remained in top 3. Michael Dell is still the CEO of Dell and making his dream big.now let's come on the actual question, “What advice would I give to first-time entrepreneurs who are just starting out?”We don’t have to invent something to be successful in entrepreneurship, Just We need to find some loopholes in the existing model and make it better. We don’t need too much money to start something, Just start small and try to work hard. One day our small will become big.We don’t need a degree to be an entrepreneur, Just we need passion and enthusiasm.“If you look at innovation, it doesn’t just occur in the lab.” :- Michael DellNamaste,Rohit Kashyap(Feel Free to connect)
