Is television adaptation of Garth Ennis' works (such as The Boys) without the Irish elements that Irish, naturalized American Garth Ennis puts in most of his works, considered a form of "whitewashing"?

Ive been reading Garth Ennis work since his early stuff in 2000ad thats almost 30 years ago now.He always puts some Irish element in to his work he brought Judge Dredd to the Emerald Isle a satirical stereotypical future Ireland that is basically a theme park , he Introduced Irish Judges in Judge Sargent Joyce.Joyce would later show up in the epic cross cover story Judgement Day another story written by Ennis. he was one of the few International Judges to survive the story.Garth Ennis has been tackling subjects such as his native Northern Ireland/Ireland, religion, the second World War and the problem with superheroes. his Irish upbringing is all over his work .In Crossed He has 4 SAS characters each representing one of the 4 countries of the United kingdom. England, Scotland, Wales , and Northern Ireland. The Northern Irish Character is ironically a Catholic nationalist who joined the British army because the IRA would have knee caped him .Ennis is a World War 2 history buff. in war stories he plays homage to the Irish men both North and South who fought together in WW2. you get so many elements and references to the Irish civil war and fight for Independence.I’m not too sure the point you are making about “White Washing” The Boys has very little Irish reference outside the Sup Blarneys Cock. This is the definition of WhitewashingWhitewashing is a casting practice in the film industry in which white actors are cast in historically non-white character roles or in roles which are scripted for non-white characters. I think what you are trying to say is by leaving out a lot of the Irish References we loose something of the tone.I know some Americans can’t tell the difference between Irish and Scottish so your point of Whitewashing may be related to Wee Hughie being cast as an American and not Scottish which you may be confusing to be Irish.I don’t really think there is an argument to support your in your case . The TV Adaptation of Preacher altho not perfect retains its Irish Irreverence and dark sense of humour in the Character of Cassidy.Preacher has been described as Garth Ennis Immigrants love letter to America , Cassidy like Ennis. is a Naturalised American having lived in the states for the better part of 90 years . There are logical reasons in a tv adaptation for leaving out some of the Irish related back story or toning down some of the Irish inspired Irreverence and dark sense of humour. They dont translate well to an American tv audience. thing get lost in translation. Americans wont understand the significance of the Easter Rising or the Importance of Cassidy fighting in the GPO they don’t get the frame of reference or the debt of it goes over their heads . It is easier to just tone it down and leave out elements that they wont get.I doubt Someone outside Ireland would get the satire of Cassidys Brother Billy kicking my name sake Michael Collins in the bollox . or the historical reference to a terrible beauty is born and blood sacrifice that we get in the Origin story of CassidyOn the Tv show there was a brief Easter egg and reference to the GPO , They used some stock footage of the 1916 Easter parade with the Irish army marching past the GPO, blink and you would have missed it it was a nice easter egg maybe it was just a coincidence,So yeah ive probably gone off topic a bit to give some context, I don’t think there is any Whitewashing in your understanding of the concept , Preacher and not so much The Boys, still maintain the tone and Irreverence and dark sense of humour that reflects Garth Ennis Irish upbringing. it is a very Irish trait that has a lot to do with Irish history , Garth Ennis work reminds me of Martin McDonagh and his brother John Michael McDonagh iIn the dark twisted and very irish sense of humour, If you have ever seen thee McDonagh Brothers work such as The Guard and Calvary In Bruge or the short Six shooter you will see what I mean in the outrageous irreverence and dark sick humour .That darkness dose not translate to an American audience on the main they just dont get it . hence why Garth Ennis tv Adaptations have to tone down some of the explicit scenes or limit the Irish references because it would just go over their heads its not Whitewashing.
