Employers in India are usually not open to negotiations when it comes to salaries, except if you're an applicant for a very niche and specialized job for which there are very few applicants. Overall, there are more generic than specialized jobs available in the Indian job market. So the scope for negotiations is very low.However, those in the R&D sector, especially those working in the AI, robotics or defence industry (I know there isn't a full fledged private defence industry in India but there are contrators who provide sub-services to government defence contrators) can negotiate their salaries.Overall the job market in India isn't very comforting nor does it offer competitive compensation due to the large number of generic service providing human resources that are available.
