PDF Editor FAQ

Is Boris Johnson a good choice for foreign minister of the UK?

Will Boris be good as the Foreign Minister? It seems unlikely. He has no diplomatic skills whatsoever, and the decision seems bizarre. Like putting. XXXX in charge of a XXXX. (insert your own names into the blanks to make a joke)But as a political decision, the appointment makes more sense. Prime Minister May has created a win-win situation for herself. She backed Remain, and so not appointing Leave ministers would read badly. Appointing a Brexiteer to a significant post wins her points. If Johnson messes-up, (and he probably will) then she can get rid of him with no questions asked. Win!If Johnson succeeds in the post, she will also look good. Also win!

What’s the fastest you’ve wiped a smirk off of someone’s face?

When I was a state trooper, my radar unit tracked a vehicle traveling at a very high speed on the interstate. When I finally caught up to the vehicle and performed a traffic stop. I asked the driver for his driver's license which he handed to me with a smirk on his face and said, ”You can't arrest me because I am kin to (insert name of local bigwig).” I replied with a feigned tone of awe, ”Really? Please come back to my patrol car with me.”After he seated himself in the front seat on the passenger side, I asked, ”Are you REALLY related to XXXXXX?” He puffed out his chest, smirked again, and said, ”Sure am.” Then I said, ”Good. He will be glad to see that I am earning my salary when you show him your speeding ticket.” His countenance fell quicker than a one-ton boulder dropped from the top of the Empire State Building. The next day, I contacted the judge about what had occurred with the speeder the previous day. He assured me that he would ensure that he would resist any ”political pressure” to dismiss the citation and that the speeder would appear in court on the date of his hearing. On the appointed court date, sure enough, the speeder was in court with his relative. When his case was called, both of them approached the bench where they were QUICKLY admonished by the judge to sit down at the Defendant’s Table. He called on me to relate to why the defendant was issued a citation. I told him about the radar unit clocking the defendant's vehicle at a certain speed, my trained eyes identifying the speeding vehicle, then my subsequent performing a traffic stop and the issuance of the citation. The judge then inquired about how far I had to travel before I was able to catch up with the defendant and stop him to which I provided the information. He then dropped a bombshell by asking me what conversation ensued between me and the defendant. I referred to my notes and happily quoted the defendant's exact words. The judge then told the defendant to stand up. However, before he could, his relative (the local bigwig) placed his hand on the defendant's shoulder in order to imply that he remained seated while he, the bigwig, then arose and began to speak. The judge banged his gavel on its sound block for silence, then he looked at the bigwig as if he had grown another head on his shoulder. ”Did I call your name,” the judge inquired? The bigwig quickly sat down and the defendant stood up. ”How do you plead,” asked the judge? The defendant swallowed hard, then replied, ”Guilty, Judge.” He then had to stand there as the judge delivered a blistering 10-minute lecture on the proper way to act when you are pulled over by a law enforcement officer and that the officer is to be accorded respect befitting his position. He then accepted the guilty plea, fined him $150 plus court costs, and two days in jail. I learned later that the judge called the sheriff and had the defendant released after four hours.

How do I approach my potential customers to give them a brief idea about my product? What should my proposal include?

Do you know when [Problem You Solve]? What we do is [Insert your solution]. My call back # is 999-999-9999. That number again is 999-999-9999. Thank you.Send an email with the same messageWait 7 days if they don't return your call. Repeat the process with another problem you solve. Keep repeating this process until you've cycled through all the problems that your product solves. When you finally get an appointment, treat it like a two way conversation. Ask questions about the problems you solve and how the customer is experiencing the problems. Talk about the implications if those problems do not get resolved. Make sure you have enough information about what the customer needs before introducing your solutionWhen you do talk about your solution, interrupt yourself and ask them how they would integrate your solution in their business. Keep interrupting yourself between bullet points and asking for their feedback on how they would customize it or leverage it to meet their needs. The other person wants to hear him/herself talk. So, to the extent that you are engaging them, they will pay attention and provide useful feedback to you.To learn more about this process, check out the book Spin Selling by Neil Rackham.
