Has anyone researched just what the 400 bills sitting on McConnell's desk are? This seems to be a talking point without adequate information.

You may want to read the Vox - Understand the News articles on the subject. The latest is atHouse Democrats have passed nearly 400 bills. Trump and Republicans are ignoring them.Below is a summary of the most important bills in McConnell’s ever-burgeoning desk:Here’s a list of major bills the House has passed since JanuaryHouse Democrats have passed a wide range of bills since they came to power in January, ranging from a sweeping anti-corruption and pro-democracy reform known as H.R.1, to bills to save net neutrality, pass universal background checks for guns, and reenter the United States into the Paris climate accords. They have also put a large emphasis on health care, a defining issue of the 2018 election after Trump and Senate Republicans attempted to pass a bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act. Democrats have focused on bills to lower prescription drug costs, protect preexisting conditions, and condemning the Trump administration’s legal battle to strike down the ACA in the courts. And although Medicare-for-all is driving the conversation in the 2020 presidential primary, it has not gotten a vote in the House.Much of this agenda is sitting in the Senate. There have been a few things House Democrats and Senate Republicans have agreed on: disaster relief aid, reopening the government after the shutdown, the resolution to end US involvement in the Yemen war, a bill to protect public lands, and a resolution disapproving of Trump’s use of emergency powers. But on major policy issues — like health care and infrastructure, or even bipartisan ones like net neutrality, the Equal Pay Act, or even a simple reauthorization of the longstanding Violence Against Women Act — Democrats’ bills are continuing to languish in the Senate. House Democrats are expecting to take up House Resolution 3, a major health care bill to lower the cost of prescription drugs, before the Christmas break. Although we’re not going to list all 400 bills for brevity’s sake, here’s a list of major bills and resolutions the House has passed so far.Health careHouse Resolution 259 — Medicaid Extenders Act of 2019H.R. 271 — Condemning the Trump Administration’s Legal Campaign to Take Away Americans’ Health CareH.R. 986 — Protecting Americans with Preexisting Conditions Act of 2019H.R. 987 — Strengthening Health Care and Lowering Prescription Drug Costs ActH.R. 1520, the Purple Book Continuity Act (bill aimed at lowering the cost of prescription drugs)H.R. 1503, the Orange Book Transparency Act of 2019 (bill aimed at lowering the cost of prescription drugs)Civil rightsH.R. 1 — For the People Act of 2019H.R. 5 — Equality ActH.R. 6 — American Dream and Promise ActH.R. 7 — Paycheck Fairness ActH.R. 124 — Expressing opposition to banning service in the Armed Forces by openly transgender individualsGun controlH.R. 8 — Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019H.R. 1112 — Enhanced Background Checks Act of 2019EnvironmentH.R. 9 — Climate Action Now ActH.R. 1331 — Local Water Protection ActS. 47 — National Resources Management ActH.R. 2578 — National Flood Insurance Program Extension Act of 2019H.R. 205, 1146, 1941 — Banning Offshore Drilling on Atlantic, Pacific, Eastern Gulf and ANWR CoastsMilitary/foreign affairsH.R. 840 — Veterans’ Access to Child Care ActH.J. Why does Trump keep blaming Democrats for not being able to pass legislation?

It’s convenient. The article the following is from is a little dated, Nov. 2019, but I doubt much has changed:House members have passed or agreed to 389 bills and 151 resolutions since January, when Democrats took control. But McConnell has left many untouched in the GOP-led Senate, having vowed to block their progressive policies as the "grim reaper" to their bills on issues such as election security and background checks. The Senate, for its part, has passed or agreed to 132 bills and 284 resolutions since January, with 80 bills originating in its chamber. McConnell, whose office did not respond to our inquiry, has said his priorities include funding the government, approving Trump’s North American trade deal and confirming judicial nominees.PolitiFact - What is Congress doing besides impeachment? So, much of the legislation passed by the House is simply sitting on Mitch McConnell’s desk, but it’s much easier to blame Democrats for holding things up. Pardon the length of the following, but it is helpful if readers can actually see that the House has done a lot of work besides “witch hunts” and pursuing “hoaxes”:There have been a few things House Democrats and Senate Republicans have agreed on: disaster relief aid, reopening the government after the shutdown, the resolution to end US involvement in the Yemen war, a bill to protect public lands, and a resolution disapproving of Trump’s use of emergency powers. But on major policy issues — like health care and infrastructure, or even bipartisan ones like net neutrality, the Equal Pay Act, or even a simple reauthorization of the longstanding Violence Against Women Act — Democrats’ bills are continuing to languish in the Senate. Trump and Republicans are ignoring them.Trump has placed himself in a very tight box. His narrative has been that Democrats are evil, hate the country, want to allow foreign gangsters into the country…they’re just political cyanide. How could a person as pure and wholesome as Trump possibly compromise with such wicked people or—God forbid!—admit that they might have some good ideas that deserve serious consideration? There has been bipartisan legislation passed; in fact, as of November 2018, ALL legislation passed has been bipartisan, it has to be in order to get through both houses of Congress. But there has been much less than in previous administrations, not because it’s not getting passed by the House, but because it seems to gall Trump to no end to have to give any semblance of “credit” to Democrats.

What is your review of Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM)?

Hello,I think you got an above avg WBJEE rank recently, congrats!you completed an important part of life .I am an alumni of IEM for 2014–18 batch, currently working in TCS.I was an avg student in core dept. of IEM(7 pointer),which is not considered a good dept. by geniuses of West Bengal engineering community,It is a very bad college,no one wants to study here as it is a private college but I don’t know why WBJEE cutoffs are so high for this tier 3 college.I think everybody is dumb and they just take admission by seeing the placement advertisement of IEM,they don’t do research.Let’s know about some real facts not some outsider’s (I heard from X/Y)facts{I will strictly talk about facts other than good placements as everybody is talking only about that}The WBJEE cutoffs of IEM are comparable to KGEC & CU whereas the total no of seats are much more in IEM(700+) even after adding the seats of KGEC(~300) & CU(200+).That means dumb students are still preferring IEM over CU & KGEC even IEM is a so called pvt. engineering college whereas CU & KGEC are govt colleges with much lesser fees.IEM is 31 yrs old and a third class college,no coding culture only rote learning and strict disciplines, some shitty campus hmmmmm.I know you have heard enough things like:”Govt. colleges have very high advantage over pvt colleges(Biggest joke but it is true that in 95% of the pvt colleges have so poor student quality that they don’t have any self respect and they are really not worthy of an engineering seat that is where the problem lies)”“If you want placements then choose IEM otherwise choose KGEC”“CU has second best chemical engineering in India after ICT Mumbai”(I seriously don’t know how first year CU kids are so knowledgable that they are declaring ICT Mumbai as the best ChE insti. It is one of the finnest no doubt but nobody can say it is better than Old IITs(Atleast top 5),as before 2010(IITK era) IITB was known for their ChE and there are colleges like RGIPT & IIPE which are CFTIs and take students from JEE Advanced and funded by Ministry of Oil and Natural gas directly where as ICT takes student from JEE Mains and a GFTI and I am not going to talk about CU)“CU has way better campus placements”“You willn’t have time for CAT/GATE other govt. exams”“IEM has 0 contribution in GATE rank of students”(I am pretty sure that the anon writer never appeared for GATE otherwise he/she would have known that colleges contribute mostly 0 towards GATE,it is like asking your school for JEE Advanced coaching)“Only govt. students do well in govt. exams”“CU is tier 1 university even better than JU”“CU has awesome placements”“CU is doing eye to eye with JU”(Still I don’t know why CU CSE cutoff is at par with JU chemical/Production? and Why JU all over avg is just a little bit lesser than CU CSE avg?)“Arka roy got CS GATE AIR 9““CU has world class placements”“KGEC has equal placement, better coding culture than IEM”(Please refer to Komal shingh’s answers you will get the real picture of KGEC placements in recent times as she is from KGEC CS/IT,I mean best branches for placement and a high achieving alumni also.)“Core branches are very bad in IEM,join KGEC or JGEC”“University of Kalyani is a state of the art univerity”“Worst placement”(Yes true but go and check the placement stat of other colleges of WBJEE,the problem is with the state itself not the college,Do you know the median package of big clgs like SRM,KIIT?It is near about 3.5-4.2 Lpa,so after spending 10–20 lakh you are getting 3-4 Lpa and you call IEM worst because of the avg of IEM is 3.5–4 Lpa after giving fees of 5 lakh and some other college kid talking utter BS about his/her college on quora?!!Wowwww and what about NIRF No 1 pvt college and No 15th engineering college ,The almighty VIT Vallore?they proudly publish their record placement in mass recruiters like TCS,CTS,Wipro after taking fees of 20 Lakh? and do you think getting a job in even a mass recruiter is so easy now a days just because you cracked a state level JEE or WBJEE 4 years back??? )“IEM is a scam”(True then all the WBJEE colleges except JU are scams be it pvt or govt but still smaller than the platform itself wink wink.See the simple logic from my side is if the intention was to scam you then IEM also can charge 15–20 lakh like other top pvt univs of different states as it is the best pvt clg in the state and it is now free from MAKAUT fees structure and IEM can easily target the WB students going for SRM,KIIT as it already has IEMJEE,then why IEM scam gods are taking above avg students from WBJEE,JEE Mains with a fees which is lesser than state govt colleges of Delhi ;))“CU is tier 1,KU,KGEC,JGEC are tier 2,IEM is tier 3”(Nice try to put your college in tier 1 & 2 but it won’t change the reality)(The logic was amazing from a first year kid of Univ. of Kalyani. He had written KGEC has great student quality as if IEM cutoffs are very bad in comparision with KGEC and suggested to see collegedunia for cutoffs instead of WBJEE website,Wowwwwww!)“In IEM everybody regrets about their choice and dropout in 1st/2nd sem for WBJEE repeat”(So basically nobody ever graduated with a B.Tech degree from IEM ;))“Don’t get fooled by IEM students”(As if students who had choosen IEM all are fools and con artists with no WBJEE ranks and who had choosen KGEC,KU,JGEC are exceptionally brilliant.Nice assumption and too much confidence or I would like to call it delusion of grandeur)I think you heard enough bad about IEM from some CU and KU first year KIDS and MATHKAS, I mean over smart students who think their institute as world famous one and some failure(Not failure in life but they think they are failure because of IEM,most of the cases they are backlog kings and queens) IEM insiders also.Let me tell you some names who are in real tier 1 or tier 1.5 colleges (according to engineering jesus and gods not me) in India doing M.Tech/MS/Direct PhD/MBA/PGD1.Nirabhra Mandal(EE 2017):IISc2.Bijit(EE 2017):IIT K3.Alomoy Bannerjee(ME 2017):BITS Pilani(M.Tech),IIMK(EPGPM)4.Loknath Chakrabarty(EE 2018):IIT Kgp(Topper of Power electronics at IIT KGP defeating some real champs who did their B.E/B.Tech from JU,KGEC)5.Souvik Sinha(ECE 2018):IIT G6.Gourab De(EE 2018):IIT K7.Sourish Ganguly(EE2018):IIIT H8.Ratul Chattopadhyay(EE 2018):MNNIT A(left IIITD after 1–2 months)9.Asish Kumar(EE 2018):IIT BHU10.Harsh Seth(EE 2018):IIIT B11.Rahul Raj(EE 2018):NIT W12.Titash Ghosal(ECE2018):IISc13.Aritri (2018):IIT Kgp14.Mayukh Roy(ECE 2018):IIT Kgp15.Imran Khan(EE 2018):IIT B16.Debabrata Das(EE 2018):NIT C17.Aditya Dey(ME 2018):IIT P18. Prof. post, among them CU M.Tech alumni are performing worst as per jr. feedback,I don’t know the reality. You can ask current students.3.Management’s(Incompetent) main focus is to promote UEM Jaipur and Kolkata by increasing their placement stats.4.The rules they implement aren’t followed by them after certain period of time5.People of WB cann’t take it as a pvt clg performing better than most of the govt Clgs.It hurts some ill govt clg and worthless pvt clg student’s ego,as a result IEM is very much hated and underrated by both.6.IEM has 20–25% MQ seats.(legal and unethical but atleast they are buying a seat by paying huge money which inturn subsiding gen merit students fees unlike reserved candidates in govt. colleges who are even paying lesser than gen candidates “irrespective of their financial condition “with much lower merit rank which is much more unethical)7.Small campus(Though it is true for each and every urban college campus in kolkata),Uniform,Prayer for first year.8.TPO is too old (but very efficient),in placement cell other officers are 4 big fat people who are too fat to do anything new, they are too satisfied with the mass recruiters and placement stats but still better than a self proclaimed tier 1 university which don’t have a proper placement cell and ignorant about placements(they don’t take placements seriously).9.There is no proper alumni relation cell.Top level Alumni are too ignorant about helping jr.s but still from 2018 they are arranging Homecomming in the month Dec every year in Kolkata and bengaluru.10. In the name of diversity too many students comming from Bihar,Jharkhand,it is a problem in all WB colleges.11.Lack of unity in students.(Mainly in bengali students).12.Lack of funds from state govt, mainly what I found that the main source of fund is MQ students’ money.13.Senior junior interaction is less. Some good things about the college1.IEM is starting it’s autonomous batch from this very year, so no MAKAUT shadow.(You can check from UGC website also)Though MAKAUT is as sh*t as Univ of Kalyani or Burdwan Univ for Engineering.2.Decreasing seats in IT(60),EE(60),EEE(30),ME(30) dept.3.New CSE streams are getting introduced like CSE(AI),CS(BS),CS(IOT& cyber security, block chain),own syllabus for every stream as a part of autonomy.4.UEM don’t join pool with IEM anymore normally(it’s a myth created by outsiders)5.24*7 library(yeah it is true for central library)6.NAAC grade A(3.25)(higher score than CU(3.2)),we have atleast a NAAC score unlike some ultimate govt. engineering colleges.7.CSE,ECE,IT are NBA approved8.XEROX,Print,Spiral Binding facilitry in house with very subsidised price.:)9.We don’t have SC,ST,OBC quota like govt colleges but yes TFW quota exists, which is great, if your are financially weak then under tfw quota you just need to pay the fees of first sem for 4 years.10.Because of bad NIRF rank this year Director is implementing a new rule which is good for both faculty and college that is atleast 1 paper per faculty per year but atleast we have a NIRF rank.(2016–>79,2017 & 2018->rank band of 101–150,2019->101,2020->191)11.Students get enough free time in 3rd and 4th year for GATE/CAT prep.(except Mech Dept. though my opinion may be not right)12.Almost all Society Chapters are available(IEEE,ISHRAE,SPIE,IEI etc.)13.Dancing,Debate,Photography,Pet,Painting clubs are openning in recent years.14.Sports activities are in increasing along with UEM K(Rented Ground in Saltlake,Newtown) thanks to Asim Dawn Sir (2 basket ball courts in 2 campuses along with a smal lawn available)15.Two 3D printers available in campus in IEDC lab(Funded by DST,Govt of India)16.If you like tier 1 city life then IEM will never disappoint you(BBQ Nation,CCD,6 Ballygunge place,Baskin Robbins,Karim’s,McDonald’s,Wow Momos.Dominos.Pizza Hut,Malls,Cinema halls,Nicco park etc. you name it,it will there within 2–3KM radius of IEM,after tiring lectures you can easily access them)17.PNB,IDBI,Overseas Bank are in house banks for 3 different campuses18.Different mini tech fests for EE,ME dept. & CSE dept. along with small tech fest & cultural fests19.Great Location, easy to get exposure20.I should not say but the placements are 3rd best among WBJEE colleges(after JU and some good streams of CU like CSE,PST,CT,ChE and may be ECE,IT also but not sure for these 2 streams though)21.ISHRAE Job Junction Eastern Region takes place in IEM.(Ask any decent Mech Engg what is IJJ)22.You will get 20,000 rupess of your caution money back after completion of your course.I got my caution money back in 2020 Feb month.(I don’t know why this scam gods are returning this money as most of the colleges in WB don’t return it back.Example all Techno India group colleges even after notice given by MAKAUT they still do not return it ;))23.Ragging free campus, now you may say there is no ragging in any college then I would say just get into Techno India group colleges(Mainly Techno Main or TIU,TINT) or Haldia etc. So,You can see IEM is only 31 years old(EE,ME depts. are only 7 years old,EEE only 6 years old) and has very very bad alumni, very very dumb alumni but it is one of the very few colleges in WB which can place a 6 pointer in MNCs like PWC(The biggest example is a traitor and she spreads wrong idea about IEM on quora)and backlog guys in TCS(I cann’t mention their names)I know only very few recent alumni(Don’t know everybody even in my batch) still you can see how many of them are doing good in their life and you can estimate how many of them are in top MNCs or Institutes right now as the institute is 31yrs old.Yes may be luck factor worked for them, they don’t have any talent.:)See we don’t need promotion in quora,we don’t sell our single GATE rankers on quora,we don’t cry in every youtube video comment box to add our college in top 10 WBJEE colleges(usually youtubers do,if not we don’t care much),we don’t promote KGEC,JGEC to put other better colleges down,we don’t need to as we didn’t start our own 4 yr B.Tech course in just 2015 and you know the best part about IEM is all it’s alumni are engineers and our own alumni unlike some great tier 1 universities alumni who claims IIEST alumni as their own alumni and engg students take credit of great science, arts alumni who are in top level.Another best part about IEM is famous for achievement of current students and not for world class egoistic faculty and very very old alumni achievements from some tier 1 self proclaimed world class university. After seeing very much negativity and wrong info about IEM from outsiders mainly kids who wants to justify their wrong choice,I am forced to write this answer,I should say a campaign was going on against IEM in 2019 on quora even people go to a diffrent level of hypocricy that placement is not everything as if placement is a useless thing & trees, branches, building, campus size are very important & there are many jobs in market.I mean wow!I saw even answer rating Ganikhan chowdhury(GKCIET) the only fraud college of WB is better than IEM,I saw a 2nd year kid of JGEC CSE B.Tech is saying IEM & Heritge are 3rd class colleges (as if JGEC is any better than these colleges, woww!!) )Seriously quora is garbage. Now a days most of the industry and college experts on quora are recently 12th pass or 1st yr, 2nd yr kids who gets expert advise from just immediate “antel” sr. and most of those seniors have no relation with reality but they get access to social media easily and write anything what they think, pls don’t take these answers seriously. Industry reputation of a college is totally diffrent from student and public perception. I am amazed to see a TIU mech 1 st yr student writting about Tier 1,tier 2 colleges.(I know that guy and his batchmates personally,we used to stay in same PG and trust me he was one of the dumbest guy I have ever met. I am not underestimating TIU students, I know some of them in person, working in TCS,CTS or studying MBA in Austrailia and even doing M.Tech CSE in IIITA or IIITD but that particular guy was very much dumb back in 2018- 2019).It is laughable that despite being the oldest university in the country some self proclaimed tier 1 universities are no match for even JU,trying to promote their superiority over a 31 yrs old so called tier 3 pvt college.Even AIR 9 CS from their university is telling the institute is sub-standard but their first year kids are saying we are on the top of the country and comparable to IITs.;)Let me tell you another thing, don’t join IEM it is a bad college.Go for any other WBJEE college but not IEM please and write garbage about IEM on social platforms but still we will perform better than most of the WBJEE colleges(except JU) and may be better than your dream college also.Answer is strictly for WBJEE admission seekers, not for insecure clg student’s ego boosting. For any help you can dm me in quora and a request to current students of IEM,please try to know about your college first then write garbage on social media, just completing first year doesn’t give a clear picture about the college.I can tell you many of us are proud of our college and we don’t need any kind of appreciation from outsiders but still I am not saying anywhere IEM is better than any college in WB.As a WBJEE ranker you may find in quora some people are saying Haldia,UIT,Univ. of Kalyani ,MAKAUT in house, palana dimkhana toothbrush college are better than IEM because of their campus life, chillax attitude or trying to minimize the gap by missleading as far as possible, just believe them and join those world class recognised colleges instad of IEM.A false campaign by some kids cann’t stop the admission of above avg WBJEE rankers in IEM and your efforts may affect the cutoffs a little bit but you can only fool some innocent kids from rural area who lacks guidance. In IEM nobody is going to teach you anything outside the syllabus,If you take the Labs seriously second year onwards you will surely learn something otherwise you will just pass the exam.Don’t waste your time by just sleeping, pubg/freefire/cod and gossiping all day with your roommate in PG,develop some skills or prepare for CAT/GATE.People get enough time to prepare but they generally waste it and then gets normal jobs or no jobs and many of them starts writting garbage on quora to run from their failures and it is a never ending cycle, don’t be a part of this cycle otherwise after 4 years there is a high chance you will also write IEM is a scam bla bla bla.The students I mentioned above broke the cycle so they are doing good and you also need to do that,if you don’t break the cycle the looser will be you not IEM because many of your batchmates will achieve top level within the same timespan of 4 years.Arrange for your own industrial training, internship,it is not the duty of your college, see don’t have the attitude that you paid money to IEM and IEM will do everything for you,you will surely regret then.No college in WB will spoon feed you just because you are paying the fees and getting an internship isn’t a joke in WB for even an IIT Kgp student(you need to be heavily skilled) because Kolkata is a dying city.***Dear WBJEE admission seekers please don’t blindly believe any anwer in Quora and don’t use it as first hand guide book as mostly indians are hypocrites & delusional and 99% of the answers are ego boosting opinions and not facts which comes from personnel insecurities. Please check WBJEE cutoffs from WBJEE website and cross check your rank, try to predict in which colleges you can get a seat then visit their website, talk with more than one current 4th year or recent alumni(Don’t listen to some frustrated old school “Buddha”,they will ruin your career),try to avoid other jr. year kids as mostly they don’t know anything about the reality of the college, try to know about current placement stats from a already placed student and an unplaced student.Read Quora answers for time pass like FB,Whatsapp etc.Treat it like an useless social media platform mostly, please don’t take these college reviews seriously otherwise you will regret it later for sure.Which ever college you go just be respectful to all your competitor colleges (student quality wise because just getting 5 marks more or 1000 better WBJEE rank will mean nothing after 4 years, your updated university curriculum is not still industry ready, industry updates itself way faster than indian engineering colleges,so don’t have a wrong concept of better curriculum means better industry ready) as they are equally worthy for the same job; see ignorance and arrogance will lead you to nowhere in long run; don’t expect brand value from any WBJEE college in all india level,it will surely hurt your ego(except IITs/NITs/BITS Pilani/IIITH no college possess all india level brand in industry and society),There is no proper definition of tiers of engineering colleges in India all answers are for ego boosting and vague, moreover it is not possible to fit them properly in only 3 or 4 tier system, you will find many top state universities or state level colleges are claiming they are tier 1 colleges and better than most of the IITs & NITs which is a myth.***Outsiders do one thing; make a bulb of your ideas and put it in your a**
