PDF Editor FAQ

Is Lampard going back to Chelsea the right decision?

Let's say I am neutral sceptic about this appointment. For the pros:Chelsea legend. He may impersonate the best what Chelsea is.His assistant Morris knows the club perfectly, and was a former Chelsea youth coach. So he knows all the Chelsea academy players, and it will be a huge asset because of the transfer ban.His experience with Derby County had positive results. Championship is a very intense and difficult league, and having results is significant.now the cons:He is inexperienced at this level. He would jump from a good championship team to his dream club.Stats could let us suspect that his team massively overperformed. Higher than a “Leicester champion” did. 59xg, the 19th of the league, and they scored 74! A massive over performance. And defensively, 64xgc, 15th of the league, the and they took only 58…Many interviews, stats and games let us think Lampard is trying to play a possession team, control the game, and impose his domination. His team achieved the second best for pressing indicator this year. But, the teamwork isn't great, and the team is often saved by the greater talent of his players, as the massive difference between xg and xgc indicates.Harry Wilson, the best goalscorer for derby scored 7 goals out of the surface. I don't think he is the new Ballack, so it may indicates an over performance difficult to reproduce next year. So, was it the beginners luck for Lampard? Not many analysts think those over performances are due to his work, his influence, more thanks to his individualities and luck. And finally, I have difficulty to trust someone with this outfit.Looks like a old perv hitting on teens at Ibiza.Xg: expected goalsXgc: expected goals againstSources:Lampard's problems at Derby show why it is too soon for Chelsea returnThread:Frank Lampard, xG, weirdness, and why Chelsea should avoid appointing him this summer.— Josh Williams (@DistanceCovered) May 26, 2019Derby County manager Frank Lampard

Should Trump pardon former Sheriff Arpaio?

No, he should not.First and foremost, Arpaio wasn't convicted of “doing his job”, as people say. He was convicted of contempt of court. He violated court orders, knowingly and repeatedly.Next, when it looked like Arpaio was starting to lose his case, he began a “terror campaign” against the judge, starting to investigate him and his family.Third, Arpaio has been the absolute antithesis of Republican/conservative values. He essentially turned himself into some sort of dictator here in Maricopa County, where he somehow had more power than any mayors or even the governor. It was very clear, for a couple decades, that Arpaio ran the show here; some folks, like Napolitano, essentially shared power, but when there was a weaker governor in place, Arpaio was able to do what he wanted when he wanted.Arpaio was a huge budget sap, spending funds right and left on things like tanks, new buildings, fancy gadgets he didn't need, and, obviously, massive raises for himself and his team. On top of that, the fines and lawsuits he's lost have cost taxpayers in the tens of millions (best figures put the final number close to $100 million). There are clear signs that Arpaio is also financially corrupt, as demonstrated by the LLC he holds with his wife, owning properties worth several million dollars, all documented as being paid for with “cash”. Bear in mind, Arpaio's salary is just over $100,000 annually. Finally, and very importantly, Arpaio used his office to execute an entirely racist agenda. He instructed his officers to march into Latino communities, stopping “Brown people,” and demanding proof of legal residence, frequently deciding on-the-spot that certain forms of ID weren't good enough, holding the people captive until proof could be obtained.Pardoning Arpaio will be offensive to any true American.*** EDIT ***Thanks to Michael Ali for reminding me that Arpaio also gutted the MCSO sex crimes unit to address pet cases (credit card fraud, illegal brown people), allowing hundreds of molested children to continue being molested.*** EDIT 8/28/2017 ***Somebody challenged me to provide evidence of these things, so…here you go!1) Was found in 2008 and again in 2010 to be refusing medical treatment to prisoners, most of which hadn’t been convicted of a crime, they were just waiting for trial and didn’t have bail money.Judge backs county inmates in jail caseGraves, et al. v. How did you cope with having a homeless parent you could not help?

My mom was briefly homeless two years ago. She lived about an hour and a half away from me in a neighboring city, and was getting evicted from her apartment because she stopped paying the rent, despite having the money each month to do so. Her landlord was more than patient in trying to work with her, but it was the state of her apartment when the property inspectors came that forced his hand. She kept her place in such poor condition that they forced her to either clean up or leave. She ignored the warning. She even chose to pay her overdue cable bill instead of a rent payment in her final weeks there. The night before the eviction was scheduled, she decided that she would leave on her terms instead of being removed, so she left her apartment key under the doormat, took a blanket and her cellphone, and decided to spend the night on a bench in a park downtown. The temperatures were going to be dropping into the low 40s that night, so I was worried not only for her safety but her health as well. I contacted the police in that city and explained the situation, asking if they could please take her to a shelter for the night. Once she was at the shelter, I was able to buy some time in trying to find a more permanent solution. The first few days were the most difficult. All of the shelters were short on beds, especially since the weather was getting colder. I had a list of all the shelters in the city that I would call each day, trying to keep track of where she was staying. Most of them would not disclose any information for safety reasons, like domestic violence concerns, so I would have to explain the situation and leave my name and number for someone higher up to call me back. After about a week of moving from shelter to shelter each night she was accepted into a transitional shelter, whose purpose was to help her get a place to permanently stay. The staff there were wonderful and very understanding. Unfortunately, she began exhibiting behavior that the staff and other residents could not tolerate, so she was moved to a motel after a week and a half. While at the motel, one day she walked in the rain to a grocery store about a mile away. On the way back, a police officer stopped her and offered to give her a ride. I got a call from him shortly after he dropped her off, chewing me out for being a terrible daughter because I wouldn’t let my mother stay with me when she clearly needed help. It’s incredibly hard to explain boundaries to someone who doesn’t understand how dysfunctional family relationships can be.She ended up with a fantastic social worker through the county who was able to get her placed in an assisted living facility. She has a private room and all her basic needs are provided for. The county manages her finances and since she is on SSI and SSD her bills will be covered. She has a little left over each month after everything’s paid to cover incidentals. From the time she was evicted to her permanent placement, about three months had passed. My husband and I agonized over whether or not we should bring her into our home. My relationship with her was already strained and she has some undiagnosed mental health issues so we decided that it was best to help her to stay as independent as possible, which was her preference anyway. Had we taken her in, it would have been a constant battle to get her to comply to our house rules (like no smoking) as well as dealing with her sense of entitlement that we should be pay for everything, despite her monthly income.I’m relieved that she is in a safe place and is doing okay but my heart sinks into my stomach every time we get a call from that area code, for fear that it’s someone from the social services office, or the assisted living facility, or the police. At any moment the bottom could drop out and we could be back to square one.I know that most people will not understand and some will even consider us cruel for not taking her in; I’m genuinely glad that those people have such a healthy relationship with their parents that they can’t even fathom what it’s like to not have that.EDIT:I see that there are some questions as to why we didn’t take her in. Like I said, she tended to be non-compliant when it came to house rules and lacked even common courtesy. I am asthmatic as is our son, and I was fairly certain that she would smoke in our home despite our orders not to. That’s what she did while I was growing up, which led to me getting sick frequently. And to answer one of the comments below, no, our decision was not based on money. She has enough to meet her needs, but decides to spend it on her wants instead. She has the emotional and fiscal maturity of a teenager (no offense to any teens reading this!) and we have bailed her out of her own mistakes for years. We realized that by “fixing” it once again we were only exacerbating the problem.
