I’m not sure what makes you so convinced that you can lie on a form but you can’t lie to a person. If someone believes that they’re truly fine, or they’re afraid to admit that they’re not (either to others or even to themselves), then they’re just going to lie to whatever therapist tries to evaluate them. Therapists aren’t mind readers. And even if they could tell that a new mom is struggling, if she says ‘no I’m fine I don’t want help’…then what is it you’re proposing the therapist do? Drag her to the psych ward against her will? Throw her life and her family into utter chaos, rip her away from her child?You can’t force someone to admit they’re not okay, or accept help. There’s no point wasting everyone’s time trying. Yes, postpartum depression is serious. But so is cancer. And no one is hounding you, forcing you to get cancer screenings because you happen to be at risk for something. People have to take responsibility for their own wellbeing. No one can do it for you. Unless of course you want your freedom taken away.A questionnaire gives you a tool to identify the problem, and a means of asking for help. It’s not ‘just a simple questionnaire’.Q: If postpartum depression is serious, why is it just a simple questionnaire form we sign? Why is there no therapist or someone to really evaluate if the new mom is really okay? We can easily lie on the form that we are fine.

I’m not going to lie. It has been incredibly difficult at times.Especially when I have to do boring questionnaires/forms. When I see them smile though it is all worth it. Every milestone is celebrated around here.My mom notices how smart the twins are. Every therapist has essentially said the same thing.I know this is about disabled adults but I’m answering as a mom of a disabled child.In short, while there are bad days I love them. I couldn’t imagine it any other way.

Not until they work as much as men - and I don’t mean output or quality of work.I was the manager of a plant in a small town. We had about 150 on the payroll. One year I got a bureau of Census questionnaire to complete - response required by law. The questions dealt with pay. We had to list all full-time workers, their job titles, and their pay for the previous year.I had three husband-wife pairs working in the plant. One pair were operators and the other two were packers. After the payroll clerk filled out the form, I looked over it. Since it was alphabetical, two of the husband-wife pairs were sequential, and the other had one person in between.I noticed entries like this:Smith, John, Packer - $28,582Smith, Rachel, Packer - $26,084All three pairs were like this. I was curious to see why, so I looked at the payroll records. All three sets showed the same story. The husbands worked virtually all the overtime they were offered. The wives worked almost none. All three pairs had children, and the wives’ records showed multiple absences (full days and partial days) for things like’school conference,’ child’s dental appointment,’ ‘sick child,’ and similar reasons; the husbands’ records had very few of these.If the wives had worked the exact same number of hours (regular and overtime), their pay would have been identical. There was no way to show the total hours worked by each on the form.If this went into some government report, it’s going to show that women were paid about 10% less than men for ‘identical work’ - yes, identical in job title and duties, but not in hours worked.
