An interactive proposal show where gallery goers could propose ideas for installation/show ideas for a gallery space. The model formed a folder for the paper application materials.Invite.Enjoy. An installation in a student show where a mini-fridge resupplied with Coke cans, sanded and polished clean of all Coca-Cola branding was placed on the floor behind a wall painted with only the "Enjoy" of the Coca-Cola logo. Viewers were allowed to take and consume a Coke without having to consume any Coca-Cola marketing. 2000-1ish.

The first to prepare for Stanford is rejection. Statistically speaking (according to the most recent research I have seen on this matter), Stanford accepts anywhere between 3-5% of Post-Graduate applications as they usually receive several hundred applicants and only accept a small number. It is the same with other programs in other top-tier Universities.The ethnic minority bit won't count nearly as much with the growing number of International student applicants either, so I hope you aren't relying on affirmative action.Scholastically speaking, you sound like the perfect candidate. Strong GPA, solid background in your field, likely to have good recommendation letters from your referees, internship experience, and of course, being published will also help. Yes, your recommendation letters should be good and yes your GRE scores should be the best you can get (it can be a snapshot of your abilities/drive). So what can make your application even stronger?Demonstration of a social conscience.I have noticed in my applications to various US Universities that they are interested in seeing applicants who have a social conscience in the form of volunteering and helping others. Have you worked with impoverished people to make their lives better? Helped people that are usually marginalized in some way (tutoring, fund-raising, or raising awareness)? For myself, as an example, I have worked in the past with migrant-worker schools tutoring kids, I helped organize a blood drive back in 2008 among my students after the big Sichuan earthquake in China, and have collected and donated food for a local Beijing orphanage. According to a friend in Denmark, even my TEDx talk looks good on the application.So the best advice I can give is to distinguish yourself in ways that others will not - as I've told my Chinese students, if I lined up all the applicants to their program in a row, what would make them different? Scholastic standing? No. Artistic ability (such as playing a musical instrument)? Not relevant. Publications? Not really. Ethnic minority? Not even close now. Social Conscience? Quite possibly.
