But…Then I found out he had to give away the store to get that.Then I found out he didn’t even get what he said.Then I realized that this just encourages more companies to threaten jobs so they can get a bag of goodies, too. How is this different from not negotiating with hostage takers so next week there aren’t 10 more ransoms to pay? That’s what he did, he paid a ransom, lost most of the hostages, got a fraction of what he said he did, lashed out at the people who corrected him, and blamed the hostages (yes, he tweeted the union’s workers should just work harder if they don’t want to lose jobs to Mexicans making $5/hour).Then I remembered President Obama saved millions of jobs. So if Trump is able do this kind of small potatoes deal every single day of his 4 year term, he’ll get to 1 million jobs saved, which is far less than what Obama did for the auto industry alone.In sum, if he didn’t give away a lot, get little, lie about it, give false hope, brag about a lie, attack people who corrected the lie, blame the workers losing the jobs through no fault of their own, and incentivize more companies to threaten to ship away jobs in exchange for tax ransoms……then yeah, I’d be pretty impressed.[Update: 800 now appears to be closer to the true number.
