Volunteered for more than 30 years for the high school booster club, which included often working concessions at athletic events. You get to know most of the students from kindergarten all the way to college. AND fortunately their parents! Too many times it was necessary to “confirm” young ladies were wearing the same outfit they left home wearing, if you know what I mean. Saw ALOT of irate moms (and a few dads) bolt through the door and yank scantily clad daughters out of the gym/stadium. I have unfriended/blocked many because their football game photos show just too much. Easier to block than instigating a discussion better left for their parents.

Asking your principal to have band at your high school will likely do little good at all as a singular action. Actually, the principal probably likely doesn’t have the authority to create new departments. However, garnering your principal’s as well as the superintendent’s support is a wise move. Research grant money for band education. It’s out there as well. Look for donations in the form of equipment, furniture, and most important, money.Be a salesman, a good one. This depends on what you mean by “club”. A night club is very different than a chess club or a sports booster club. If there is a profit motive in forming the club than there is no pat answer. The entity you should form will depend on a lot of factors. Go see a CPA in your state.If this is a not for profit club then you generally may need to form a not for profit corporation in your state. If this is a very small club then you may wish to operate as an informal general partnership and treat losses as hobby losses because it can be simpler.
