Yes and no. All things being equal between two individuals, ANY medal will tip the balance when it comes to promotions.But you still need to qualify for that promotion. For enlisted soldiers you still need the professional development courses and meet time in grade/service assignments to make SGT.For NCOs and officers you still need to continue your professional development, have the proper assignments and earn good evaluations. Granted, you’ll be given a great deal of credit for your award, but if you’re not meeting the standard in some fashion, you won’t get a free ride. It gives you bunch of content analysis tools for Python including support for it’s purely decorative typing annotations. This, inter-allia, makes it feel sort of static typed language IDE, allows automated refactoring and renaming and underlines immediately many errors that would otherwise come out at the runtime. No other Python/R IDE I know comes even close to that.By the way, after few years of using Jupyter/JupyterLab I think that it is rather overrated, and you need a real IDE as a data analyst/statistician/scientist. OFC it is great for viewing plots and simple exploratory stats. But actual programming in it results in quick code quality degradation and endless woes related to functions and methods being polluted with variables from global scope, long running jobs crashing due to stupid misspellings and overall poor integration with typical development workflows.OOTH every cloud has a silver lining - struggles with Jupyter convinced me fully to some FP concepts that helped me to improve at my job: immutable objects with higher abstractions of control flow (for examples see Pandas’ amazing fluid API or a little immutable collection library I maintain kzawisto/mc), pure functions with caching and lazy evaluations.
