PDF Editor FAQ

Could a malignant narcissist get away with having an innocent person sectioned under mental health laws?

I have suspected this is the case in my divorce proceedings. Divorce papers were filed by my Narcissist Ex-husband in January of 1990. This is a long post, so make yourself comfortable.I was very naive and my vulnerable position in the marriage had not been picked up on by my trusting radar. I was determined we would have a civil divorce. My husband and I had lived frugally for many years. Early on we came to the agreement that my income would pay for our family’s living expenses and his income would be used to make investments and savings. We did this for over 14 years. Being in charge of paying the bills is not as much fun as controlling the savings. Now think about that … how much money could you make if you could take 100% of your income, over the course of 14 years, and invest it in things like Real Estate, Airplanes, Harley Davidson’s, Muscle Cars, Drag racing boats, drug dealing (I was his biggest customer since I was buying amphetamine to treat an undiagnosed sleep disorder), and providing short term cash loans to people at loan shark interest rates? Yeah…our assets were like that.So there I am, working my tail off to make ends meet, but I do this willingly and without complaint because we are a team! We are putting our nose to the grindstone because it’s for the future of our lives together and to ensure our children's futures. The years go by and I am usually happy in the marriage. Mostly. He has some behaviors that can be hard to cope with. He's extremely manipulative and controlling, but as long as I stay agreeable things are okay.Every now and then things are even better than okay, and this keeps me from ending the relationship (in hopes I will discover how to keep the relationship consistently heaven). Every now and then I will think I've got it down, only to realize that didn't work either. You stay because you have hope. You stay because you have children. You stay because you have been taught that God wants you to stay by your husband. You stay because of financial reasons. You stay because you are afraid of what your husband will do to you if you leave. There are so many reasons to stay. You stay because it would be selfish if you leave. You stay because your husband is not the first person who possesses the type of personality that makes you feel a ten on the happiness scale one minute, and a zero on the same scale ten minutes later. I was born of a narcissist mother. From birth, I was indoctrinated to the narcissist family dynamic. The role of the scapegoat was one that I knew how to play. I was comfortable in the familiarity of the role. There was always the anxiety in knowing that my imperfection inevitably caused the rage of my husband. Each time I told myself, “I will be perfect on the next try”. His insanely impossible demands were matched by my insanely impossible expectations that I could one day be the vision of what he saw as perfection.I owned a business. My older sister asked if I would teach her the business. The plan was she would open her own after I taught her. My sister also has Narcissistic tendencies. I was naive enough to believe she had outgrown the narcissistic immaturity. In the end, my sister destroyed my business.Quite suddenly, I was no longer in the financial position to pay for our families living expenses. I began giving the bills to my husband who would return the bills indicating they were paid and a check number was referenced. The first late notices I ignored, thinking the payments just crossed in the mail. Then the 2nd batch of late notices came and my husband insisted that he paid the bill. When the third batch of late notices arrived I began demanding the cleared checks that paid the bill. Only then did my husband admit, that though he wrote out the checks, he never mailed the payments. To say that my husband was furious with me is an understatement. He was LIVID. He had never had to get into his own pocket to pay for such unimportant things like food and utilities. The psychological abuse escalated and he became physically abusive as well. Even the physical abuse had a covert method to it. He would not actually hit me, but he threw things that would “accidentally” hit me. The things he threw were always my things of course.Only when I decided I’d had enough did I realize how screwed I was. Because I had been paying all of our families living expenses, all of the families debt was in my name. None of that debt had any payment for six months. Because he was controlling the investments and savings, all of the community income was in his name. When I finally left, I had to move in with someone else because I had huge utility bills that were unpaid in my name. These utility bills were not the typical household utilities. We lived on a commercial lot and both of our businesses were included in the amounts. I am talking several thousand. The family home was on the same property as his business. Staying in the family home meant I would have daily contact with the Narcissist and the mind games would be a constant. It also meant that the kids and I would be sitting in a dark and cold house since the utilities would be stopping. The smear campaign was already in full swing by the time I left. Rumors abound that I was hosting “Orgies”, shooting up Methamphetamine, and doing so in the children's presence. I was also supposed to be physically abusing the children. The Narcissist filed for divorce and I hired an attorney to file the response that detailed all of the debt in my name and the assets that I was aware of.After closing my business we rented out the office building (also on the lot with the family home). My children and I lived on the rents received. One month I went to collect the rent and the tenant tells me that he paid my Husband. I went and asked my husband what was going on and he tells me “things are not going to go your way anymore (as if things were ever the way I wanted them). When I got home that day there was a message from my attorney telling me I had to be at a hearing the following day. The next day the children were placed in the custody of their father and a hearing was scheduled in the big court to determine if criminal charges would be initiated. At the next hearing, my children were present and took the stand. Thankfully the fact finders were able to determine that my Ex-husband had fabricated the entire story. The Court admonished my Ex-husband, telling him to never do that again. As a result, the Narcissist never told another lie (just kidding). The Court then rewarded my exhusbands purgery and gave him custody of our children. The attorney the Court appointed to represent me asked me at that time if I were using drugs, and I admitted that I was using amphetamine. When asked my reason for using the drug, I stated, “Because I cannot wake up”. I made the admission in hopes that I would get assistance in discovering the reason why I could not wake up.I spent the following twenty years attending a series of Court hearings in which all of the marital assets were stripped from me. The final settlement agreement failed to settle the marital debt and left me to deal with the fallout. It took me twenty-five years before I began to suspect that the Court had declared me incompetent as a habitual drug user. I believe a conservator of my estate was appointed.Fast forward. I discovered my son was suffering the same symptoms as I. He cannot wake up too. I make it my mission to find out what is wrong with us and we are diagnosed with Narcolepsy. Because I now have a criminal history for drug use (amphetamine), the DEA has blocked my ability to obtain treatment for the disease I have been diagnosed with. The DEA has not just blocked my effective treatment but has effectively blocked the effective treatment of all Narcoleptics. Virtually all of the scientific research conducted on the treatment options for Narcolepsy find that the most efficient and effective treatment is Methamphetamine. Period. So, the powers that be are denying the best treatment option to all people who have Narcolepsy. One day my son is driving home after cashing his paycheck at the bank. He is pulled over and searched. The police find a large amount of methamphetamine and the cash he just got from the bank. He is arrested and charged with Sales of a controlled substance. There was no scale, no baggy’s, no books.I am at the Courthouse waiting to find out what room his hearing will be held. A very happy man comes up to me and asked if I needed assistance and I tell him I am trying to find the Court where my son’s hearing will be. He tells me I should follow him and I follow him right into the District Attorney’s Office. He tells me to wait for a few moments.Apparently, this man woke up one morning and asked himself if he really needed to work. His answer was “NO”. Today was going to be his last day as a District Attorney. He comes back and tells me that my sons hearing will be in Courtroom number 8 and that he is charged with Sales of a Controlled Substance.I asked the man, “Who would I speak to about this case? You see, my son has Narcolepsy and the drug he was arrested with was not to sell but for personal use. My son is willing to plead to possession, but not to sales”.The man just looks at me an says, “Good One”. I said, “No…I am telling you the truth”. He says, “I meant that your son has a good defense, but he will have to talk to his attorney”.My son was released on bail and a Public Defender was appointed. Only the public defender absolutely refuses to present my son’s defense. My son asked to be able to represent himself in the matter, and the Judge tells him he is not smart enough and forces him to work with a different Public Defender. I learned later that it is against the law for the Court to allow a conservatee to represent himself. It was after one of these hearings that my son and I went into the clerks' office and asked if we could view the file. We are reading the file and my son asked me “What is an ECT Hearing”? I tell him I have never heard of it and we should ask the Clerk. When we asked the clerk she said, “Oh, you are not allowed to see that part of the file”. She then takes the file, removes a couple of sheets of paper, and hands the file back to us.When we arrived home that day my son asked Google what an ECT Hearing was. I cannot begin to tell you how filled with anxiety I was upon discovering what an ECT Hearing is.ECT stands for ELECTROCONVULSIVE THERAPY. An ECT Hearing is a hearing where a judge decides whether a patient will be forced to undergo this kind of therapy. At the next Court hearing, my son’s Public Defender wanted a conference in one of their private rooms. I asked if I could attend and the Attorney said no. He was attempting to talk my son into pleading guilty and accepting one year of prison time. My son tells him no. He tells him he is not guilty of sales, only of possession. The attorney is so frustrated by the end of the conference that when he sees me he grabs me and says he needs to speak to me. I go into the private room with him and he proceeds to tell me that my sons' defense is no good. He says, “What you two are talking about is CHANGING THE LAW!”Excited, because someone was finally getting the gist of what we were talking about, I said, “YES! That is precisely what we want to do. I told you before that this was not going to be the run of the mill drug case. We want you to help us change the law”. Keep in mind that this attorney is discussing my adult sons’ criminal case without my son being present. My son’s name is called by the Bailiff and my son walks up to the podium. The Judge says, “I understand you turned down our offer to do a short term rehab program and have the charges dropped to a misdemeanor afterward”. This offer was never disclosed by his PD. After all the stress and worry about having to do prison time, my son says “I’ll take that offer”. It is his choice to make. So, the Court orders my Narcoleptic son into a rehabilitation program that aims to keep him from using the drug that he is medically dependant upon. Is it too much to ask that the Court's rulings make some kind of sense? My son completes the program. He knows that he had two dirty tests, but the program reports say he is clean throughout. That’s when the Judge tells him that his charges will not be dropped to a misdemeanor. In every other criminal case in the Country, the Judge would be held to the plea deal agreed upon. The reason they are not, in this case, is because Conservatee’s do not possess the same rights that other people enjoy. That’s the reason why his PD didn’t have to respect confidentiality.Every instinct in me is telling me that my Narcissist Ex-husband, the father who took this son on a home invasion and then borrowed my son’s bulletproof vest for his own protection, has CONFIDENTIALLY made himself the Conservator over my son’s Person and Estate. The Narcissist has placed his Scapegoat child in a condition in which he possesses absolutely NO civil rights. The Narcissist is now in a position where he has complete and absolute control over this son’s affairs. The Narcissist can even petition the Courts to force Electro Convulsive Therapy against my sons will if he so decides. The worst part is, I can’t prove any of this. Anyone can petition the Court to have a case sealed under the grounds that if the Conservatee knew what was happening, that it would cause the Conservatee irreparable harm. The case is filed under a pseudonym, that only parties to the case know about. And I am the crazy one.

Which U.S. Census records are free to view?

Depending on what kind of "records" you are looking for, the answer is tons! If you go to the Census' data website at (http://www.census.gov/data.html) you will find many links that lead to completed datasets for all sorts of things and all sorts of geographies. For instance, under the American Fact Finder (American FactFinder) you can find things like "2011 County Business Patterns", "2013 Annual Survey of Manufactures", "Educational Attainment", "Poverty Status in the Past 12 Months", etc. For more general statistics, you can utilize the "Quick Facts" or "Easy Stats" tool, which will help guide you with a step-by step selection process to narrow down your search to specific states or regions to obtain your data. The American Community Survey (ACS) is conducted every year and gives an update of the social and economic picture of communities. You can download data by State, and then by County or City (Data Tables & Tools).Lastly, a subset of the American Fact Finder data is the PUMS data, which stands for Public Use Microdata Sample (American FactFinder - Search), which are "a set of untabulated records about individual people or housing units". These are essentially anonymous data about individual households, but not every household is guaranteed to have submitted information or answer all of the questions. Additionally, if any question can make the household identifiable, it is lumped with other data to ensure confidentiality. Note: When searching, set your 'Product Type' to "Public Use Microdata Sample". And, you will have to read the accompanying documentation to understand the acronyms within the Excel file for the PUMSAll of this data can be downloaded to an Excel format, free of charge! Depending on what you want to do, it could take some heavy reformatting before you start an analysis. I suggest you know what you're looking for ahead of time, and make sure to document your analysis process if you're planning on sharing your project. Good luck!
