This time they took it off me and told me they would send it back to the manufacturer, since it was still under that warranty. It came back two months later. It crashed again almost immediately.This went on for the best part of a year. Windows got reinstalled over and over, but the computer still crashed and trashed files until I dare not trust it any more. Eventually I wrote to Best Buy’s customer service department, pointing out that the extended agreement had a “lemon” clause in it to replace my computer if they couldn’t fix it and asking for a replacement. I got a letter back, full of conciliatory language but regretting that they couldn’t help me.I swore a mighty oath that I would never in my life buy another thing from Best Buy. 25 years later, I have never broken that oath.Note on “extended warranty” - I’ve learned my lesson. So-called “extended warranty” is an insurance. It’s not usually underwritten by the shop that sells it to you. And the company that issued it will do everything possible to avoid paying out any claims - it’s not their reputation that will suffer. They are all crooks and liars. Never pay for extended warranty.
